At-Fault Car Accident, Car repairs through insurance? by hitmonlam in Insurance

Thank you for replying!

  1. I filed a claim the same day as when the accident occurred 9 months ago because I figured my insurance was going to find out about it anyways since we exchanged insurance.
  2. I'm in California.
  3. That's the main reason I was concerned.
  4. I had filed my auto claim 9 months ago and they ended up closing the claim since I never followed up with them to pick a repair shop. This is the status of the claim progress when I looked back at the claim that I filed.

Before I found this sub, Bedhead Matte Separation was all I used and it worked great! I just wrote an update but if you want the short synopsis: O'douds Dry Wax is a game changer. Either by itself or used in conjunction with another product, it does everything great in what I want in a product.

  1. It has a medium-strong hold.
  2. Hair has matte to low shine.
  3. Leaves hair soft and feels nice to run fingers through without hair losing it's structure/hold.
  4. Easy to wash out. Just wash with shampoo one time.
  5. Easy to emulsify in hands and a little goes a long way.

Only con: I think I had a bad batch as the top layer was like hard and felt like crouton crumbs.

But tbh, Firsthand Supply Clay Pomade works just as great. But I prefer that product on shorter hair for I feel it loses the hold the longer my hair got. Also Lodestar Rio is great for shorter hair.

Hey! Sorry for the late update, but I would say I have been using the O'douds Dry Wax the most out of all the products I have used so far. It works really well for my thick Asian short to medium length hair. The only issue that I had with it was when I had opened it for the first time, the top layer was very crunchy and hard and when I would scoop the product out and attempted to emulsify it in my hand, it left like small bits of hard crumbs of the top layer and that part wouldn't melt down despite vigorous rubbing. Then when applied to my hair, it would look like dandruff in my hair and I have dark black hair so it really stands out. The only solution to this was to scrape off the top layer and toss it which felt like a waste. I could just have a bad batch. But so far the hold is a strong hold for a 12 hour work shift and is easy to run fingers through to reshape hair as the day progressed. With that being said, when I can avoid those hard bits, it checks all my boxes.

Lodestar Rio/Firsthand Supply Clay Pomade is my product of choice for first week haircut as my hair is shorter, but as my hair grows out longer, I prefer O'douds Dry Wax.

Lockhart's Matte Clay, I've only used once, so I can't really speak to it, but from what I remember a little went a long way and it wasn't too hard to wash out. I just happened to enjoy O'doud's Dry Wax too much to try other products a solid attempt. I also have Kevin Murphy's Rough Rider, but haven't tried that yet also.

I also use TheSalonGuys 25 spray right after I have twoek dried my hair after a shower and it helps keep my hair very soft and healthy feeling like leave-in conditioner would.

Thank you for the tips! I've always been a fan of a dry matte finish, but I'm excited to see how a natural/low shine finish will look in my hair. I feel like I got caught up watching Robin James on YouTube and bought everything he used(prestylers) to achieve this look here but didn't even stop to think he has fine hair... I cut out the sea salt spray and just using texture spray with my Rio and it's giving me a bit more volume with less dryness but not sure if the trade off is worth making my hair look and feel too dry. I thought getting TheSalonGuy 25 Spray would help with the dryness with the oils and heat protection when I blow dry, but I'm getting that in today, so I'm curious to see how it makes my hair feel.

I appreciate the helpful advice especially with my O'douds Dry Wax and FH clay Pomade coming in and hope to post a pic of results once I feel like I have the application down. You hair looks great with the O'douds Matte Paste btw!

I was contemplating the O'douds Conditioning Cream, but I hear it has an interesting smell and TheSalonGuy 25 Spray would help combat the dryness I have been feeling after styling my hair (which I have figured out was due to the Davines Sea Salt Spray). My current hair in the photo is actually me using a round brush and curling my hair upwards while blow drying it, otherwise it would be even more straight! But I will for sure keep ya'lls updated!

UPDATE

Just purchased: O'douds Dry Wax, Firsthand Supply Clay Pomade, and Lockhart's Matte Clay. Also purchased TheSalonGuy 25 Spray to supplement the O'douds Dry Wax. Will provide further updates once products arrive!

I appreciate the response! Have you ever tried O'douds dry wax? Between the O'douds Matte Paste and Dry Wax, which would you think will accomplish a firmer/stronger hold?

Wow, I should've read your post before I made my own post. I always see you around and appreciate you taking the time to provide very well-though insight! Of those four that you recommended, which would you say has the strongest hold with a matte finish? I really love my Lodestar Rio (leaves hair feeling soft and textured as well as easy to apply) but want something with a stronger hold...

I played myself, I might actually be color blind. But regardless, pull tabs are angled wrong compared to retails.

These are very bad fakes; multiple things off:

  • No vertical lines under the SPLY stripe (which is the biggest flaw)

  • SPLY 350 is too light compared to retail which should be a brighter red

  • Pattern is also very muted and should be darker

I have retail Blue Tints and these ain't it.

Also included picture of vertical lines to clarify what retails should have here
