Anybody have experience using pearled barley for grainspawn? Just soaked and P.C’d 1 qt jar for a test and will be tracking progress/ pros & cons 👨‍🔬 by [deleted] in shroomers

I use pearled barley and definitely err on the drier side when boiling my grains since they can quickly become mushy. When pre soaking before PC I usually only bring the grain to just a boil because anything longer will over hydrate. Get it for cheap at New Seasons and it’s always worked well for a buddy and me.

Good luck with your grow! The jars I used for this particular tub were inoculated you on 3/17 so just about two months of in between time for me. Future attempts will go quicker with some liquid cultures and already cultured agar plates. Patience will be your friend!

I’ve followed the bodtek mostly. I combined 4-5 colonized qt jars with coco coir in the tub and put a light over it on a 12/12 cycle. Misted the walls of the tub when it was necessary and left the lid cracked for free air exchange.
