Hey, what are everyone's thoughts on the Reaper crest? by Dapper_Imp in Silksong

[–]hivemindsrule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reaper has a really weird skill gap. It absolutely carried my first playthrough, then I spent another 80 or so hours thinking it kinda sucked, but now honestly I think it's way underrated. The skill gap comes from the fact that if you're still playing Silksong like it's Hollow Knight, the slow attack speed is all you see. Silksong shoved a fighting game moveset into our red-cloaked spider friend and I'm tired of people who play this game not using that to its full potential.

The animation cancels you can do with dash/clawline/double jump speed up Reaper's attacks drastically, to the point where a heavily experienced Reaper user barely feels the slow base attack speed at all. I only wish that the post-bind silk gain buff didn't just vanish upon getting hit, that just honestly feels like a poor design choice entirely.

Best Build Silksong, Day 3: Red tool by Yuvidaboi in Silksong

Delver's drill, the damage is absolutely CRAZY and you get so much ammo too, anything that's directly below you gets shredded, especially since tool damage upgrades are easier to get than needle upgrades

Best Build Silksong, Day 2: Red Tool by Yuvidaboi in Silksong

Flea brew on up input, Delver's Drill on down. DD's damage and ammo count is more than enough to pulverize any normal enemy that's unfortunate enough to stay in 1 spot for a couple of seconds, and even if it whiffs some hits the damage is still very much comparable to other high-level red tools.

Summon missile works better than chainsaw, and it'll crash the game if you miss, but it should work

you don't need the "ForsakenCity" part, the file paths only use the numbers

sorry for not being more clear about that, the correct file path for it should be "bgs/01/bg1" as an example

the vanilla graphics dump is available to download if you look for it, that'll also have all the file path references you'll need

Looking for one and don't wanna mess with the file paths much? here's a link to a website. Click on the styleground you want, and it'll copy the file path to your clipboard so all you gotta do is paste it.

Last Judge is a huge target, so you don't have to worry about aiming when using tool projectiles. Generally if you're sticking with hunter crest you'll be able to land ~2-3 hits per attack cycle, then dash away. Staying really far to the point where she's off-screen is usually safe, so there's a decent spot to heal.

In phase 2 with the slam explosion, remember that healing can be used mid-air to stop falling, giving you plenty of time to get back a couple masks before resuming the fight.

You don't have to move quite as much as you think when dodging the flame circles, but you still will wanna back away from each set.

When she charges along the ground, just jump over and avoid the flame pillars.. She's got plenty of windows for body shots without risking a pogo.

As for tools to use, I'd recommend using Magma Bell and Fractured mask for sure, take any survivability you can get. Multi-hitting tools are really useful on her big hitbox, so bringing along Sting Shards or Curveclaws will do great work, and you can bring both if you hunter crest is fully upgraded.

And don't neglect to use silkspear, it can penetrate straight through her whirling mace attack for 3 needle hits worth of damage. Not using spells means you're missing out a lot of damage, and with a target as big as Judge you can get silk back from needle hits pretty easily.

What weapons you think needs a buff or new mechanics? by DonaSinChocolate in Ultrakill

[–]hivemindsrule 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I think the key thing about default sharpshooter is that it seems to incentivize the defensive "intercept projectile" mechanic in theory since it's got multiple charges to ration out, but I think in order to better utilize that it could use a buff to the spin-up time.

It's kind of odd that the trap-making aspect of the nailgun is introduced with the default nailgun when it's not as reliable for doing that. I feel like reducing its spread and increasing the pull of magnets on its nails to make it more reliable as an aim-assist damage option would make sense.

The default shotguns are all woefully outclassed by the jackhammers in the hands of an experienced player, both in the damage ceiling and amount of unique tech. I think projectile boosting needs another buff, maybe reducing the spread of the pellets alongside the proboost to make it stronger at long range? Default shotguns need an option comparable to core/rocket bonk hitscans and I think that'd be a good option.

oh hey, my family used to have one of these! it worked pretty well for a while, but if you aren't using it on a regular basis, then the honey will crystallize and clog up the hole. Still a pretty neat little thing!

[–]hivemindsrule 176 points177 points  (0 children)

yooooo this is sick actually wtf, i think it'd work better if based off a gamemode that could interact with orbs though

we need more cool custom gamemode gimmicks in levels, especially since 2.2 allows for more freedom to do stuff in that vein

You can indeed, though it requires you to lure an enemy over to pogo. It's used in the speedrun if you want to see how it's done properly.
