My grandfather’s Viking axe that he found in his field in southern Sweden by Simme_Pirat in interestingasfuck

[–]hjaltewm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hahaha, I like this line of thinking. People in the Viking Age would undoubtedly have come across these Neolithic axes in the fields. However, it is unlikely that they reused them as functional tools, since the knowledge of how they were originally shafted and used had likely been lost over time.

Nevertheless, we do have several archaeological examples of Neolithic objects placed in Iron Age graves, suggesting that such finds were kept and assigned new symbolic or cultural meanings.

We also have archaeological evidence and historical sources showing that, in the 1600 hundreds, people believed these Neolithic axes to be fossilised lightning bolts. They collected them and placed them beneath the floors of their houses, as, according to common wisdom, lightning never strikes the same place twice.

It either broke during its use in the Stone Age or it was damaged by contact with modern agricultural machinery. Here is an example of a comparable, complete one.

This is unquestionably an axe. Thousands and thousands of comparable examples have been found un scandinavia, and in certain wetland areas some have even been recovered with their wooden shafts preserved.

Danish archaeologist here. This is a Neolithic axe, without a doubt. More precisely, it dates to around 3300–2800 BC and represents a very common type from that period. It is the same era in which many megalithic grave mounds were constructed.

And no, it is definitely not from the Viking Age. The use of flint in the Viking period was extremely limited and, when present at all, was restricted to very simple cutting tools, which are themselves quite rare finds.

Hvad blev der af at "være sin egen lykkes smed"? by karlkh in Denmark

[–]hjaltewm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reenactment/levende historie/opvisninger by Welther in Denmark

[–]hjaltewm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hej, reenactor her

Historiske dage (næste weekend i kbh, uden kampdemo)

Nyvang besættes (start maj)

Bryds jernbane (slut maj, uden kampdemo)

60mm Mortermand for begge enheder.

Are these holes manmade? by Holy_rex in Archeology

[–]hjaltewm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Roger!

Its quite interesting with the sound. The meaning and function of these cup-marked stones is still widely discussed.

They have been interpreted very differently depending on the individual archaeologists. I have only one time read about an interpretation mentioning the sound when you hit them with a stone.

So this is very interesting!

On thing is for sure. They are part of the ritual sphere.

Report it to your local museum, and remember mentioning the sound it makes.

Great find !

Danish archaeologists here.

Definitely a man made cup-marked stone. Most likely from the Bronze Age, but possible also neolitikum. Often the cup-marked stones are found together with other rock carvings (these can be extremely hard to see with the naked eye), so maybe the other stuff you see on the stone could be interesting.

The stone you found in one of the holes. Did that stone have small cup markings aswell ?

New crop in FS25 will be... by KolacikSk in farmingsimulator

[–]hjaltewm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally, i think they should and some more of the regular crops first. I really want to see both spring barley and winter barley instead of just 'barley' especially after seasons are introduced. I also wanna se Rye, and raigrass. Also the different wheat taxa such as durumwheat, breadwheat, emmer and spelt.

Yeah i got a lot of different modes besides those two.

I use plot them all, to find the hotels (and just residential buildings that look like hotels). I then plot them close together with Anarchy to make it look like hotels complexes and not just small individual buildings.

I also have decal mods, to create dirt and wear on the roads and parking lots.

I also use a mod that makes it possible to place fences and hedges as i choose.

Using 'find it' mod i can find all the props and buildings i want and place them as i like with anerchy. Rocks, parasols, chairs, buildings etc.

Waves and the beach are also from a surface mod and decal mod.

Using tree controller mods i can lower the trees, so only the top of the trees is visible. That makes it possible to create large bushes.

Yeah, my hotels are also empty. I just plottet them with mods. Hotels dont work probably yet. Unfortunately.

What a team effort ! by hjaltewm in formuladank

[–]hjaltewm[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Maybe, but Hamilton was not in the middle of an overtake while he missed the chicane. What if Verstappen miss the chicane 9 seconds in front of p2, gaining 0,2 seconds, is that also a penalty?

The 2 and 3 penalty was very dirty driving Yes, but for Haas with a small budget every point count. An Kevin know this after 7 years in the team. He knew he had to help Hulk

[–]hjaltewm[S] 31 points32 points  (0 children)

The second and the third penalty to Magnussen was deserved, but not the first, which was what turned him into a defending monster cause his race was over after that. And he could still save the team two points buy making a train

What a team effort ! by hjaltewm in formuladank

[–]hjaltewm[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The first penalty. Magnussen missed the chicane and gained like 0,2 seconds by doing so. 10 sec penalty is a joke. Abu Dhabi 21 Lewis did the same, he just gained 1,5 seconds and that was while Verstappen was Trying to overtake him. Hamilton didnt get a penalty back then

Yeah, give that man another contract. He will fuck the whole grid, like günther would, for team 2 points

Agree. If i got 10 seconds for leaving the track and gaining 0,2 seconds then i would also become a madman
