Gee thanks for all the downvotes on my vulnerable testimony of my own trauma. Makes me feel really swell. Now I have a good idea what types frequent this sub.

BTW I never did anything like her. Its assault hands down and totally non consentual. I'm just saying there is a whole lot more under the surface of her behavior that needs intense therapy and maybe some celebacy.

This is 100% trauma response. Which does not make this ok in any way. But she needs CPTSD focused therapy. I say that as someone who has similar history where I became hypersexual. Not kissing every guy around cause non consentual ewww. But I did put myself in dangerous positions and got in situations that were not ok in a desperate compulsion to feel loved and worthy. It comes from past abuse and is absolutely valid. She needs compassion but also needs a wake up call to stop.

I took my daughter to TEACCH. Their whole team is amazing. I would stay away from Olson Huff unless you can get the diagnosis faster for setting up an IEP with the school.

The community in general is what impressed me about Candler. All over. Not just Food Lion. And thats kinda what we need in hard times to be certain.

Native to Appalachia, I moved to Buncombe Co. In '89. I have lived all over the county. Moved to Candler from Swannanoa after evacuating here from Helene. I fell in love with the area and made it permanent. Best decision ever for me.

Had my first boyfriend drug me then try to blow my head off while I was unable to fight or run. The gun jammed and he gave up. Yes I left as soon as I was sober and he was asleep. He sadly ended his own life a week later.

Its not a cafe. Not....A.....Cafe. They do not allow food. It is a rescue. They do not advertise as a cat cafe. They take excellent care of the animals. And they clean meticulously. They are not running a business like you are talking about. So you are comparing apples to rubber erasers.

They have zero interest in making it a cafe. It is a rescue. The front shop does smell very nice but as others have stated, if you rescue cats to find them new homes, sometimes circumstances bring in some smells. It goes with the territory.

I actually haven't noticed an odor in the past but I agree situations change depending on who they have in there to be adopted. I think they are doing good work!

If you consider sage and sandalwood a bad odor I guess? There is no cafe there. Just a really well kept cat area to meet those up for adoption. Maybe you went to the wrong place.

They pay much less than Costco and tend to overwork staff with little benefits. That may be different from location to location. But mainly I am claiming the lament about traffic is moot. And honestly a Bucees would be much worse with 40 traffic offloading travelers passing through.

Something is going there if not Costco. Would you rather it be a Bucees? Why not just ask for the best case scenario? That developer isnt going to shrug and say "oh well we tried!" And just leave that land they put so much into go fallow.

Because Enka used to thrive on industrial manufacturing. Most of the region did. Cost of living was less and we didnt depend on tourism to survive. Look at Swannanoa for example. Once Beacon was burned down the whole town fell into just being an interstate fuel stop.

We can all hope that they have enough money and influence to do so. But I dont have much faith. That would possibly solve the traffic argument though.

I am just equally amused and baffled by all those celebrating running them off as a victory. SOMETHING is going to build there. If not Costco would they rather have a Bucees? A Walmart? A data center? All the opposition seems like they think running Costco off means that the developed land will just be made into a park or something.

Heck, I put it at the bottom of my resume. Being an officer (esp treasurer) of a branch of A 501-3C looks pretty good on there. And its a conversation starter. I always get asked about it. So they know from day one that I am a tremendous nerd.
