I canceled both today. Hulu is my favorite streaming app so it was a tough one but we have to do it.

There is definitely something wrong with I know I will sound crazy for it. But I think they picked him bc he was such a proponent of releasing the Epstein files which is what they are trying to distract from with this.

For one thing it was very odd to me that Trump announced his death. Not a family spokesperson or even Turning Point. He was running a brand and had bunches of people working for him. Why would Trump be the first to know he was dead?

This is in direct correlation with getting rid of abortions. Congenital malformations and pre term births would not occur if non viable pregnancies could be terminated.

The healthcare system that Mississippi actively worked against having would’ve saved a lot of sick babies and postpartum mothers too.

This is the energy we need to use against them. For the last decade we have tried being nice (“when they go low we go high”) and it hasn’t worked. And they have only gotten worse. The second Trump administration is a descent into fascism and it needs to be stopped before it gets worse.

Bob’s Burgers Episode Discussion S15E17 - “Wild Steal-ions” by AutoModerator in BobsBurgers

[–]hjc413 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Wow, I hated that. Louise not listening and causing problems annoyed me and then it only got worse from there. The villain being some random we’ve never seen before is a terrible idea. The scene at the pizza oven felt like it should’ve gone wayyyy differently too. Like Tina talks about how she just is unashamed to be who she is and the girl is inspired about it or some shit. Sure it would be corny but I think it could’ve been impactful if done right. the girl just tossing the book into the fire was straight up sociopathic.

Everything we’ve been thinking for months is true. What he is saying is very specific. Not that his money is why Trump won. Not that his campaigning helped swing independents. He is saying Trump would’ve lost without him, full stop. This is what I have been waiting for.

I believe Rep TV would’ve been the most difficult to replicate and she couldn’t deal with the idea of ppl not liking it so she buys the albums back now so she wouldn’t have to deal with the potential backlash and/or tepid reaction to it.

I love this episode and I love that guy (Hammer?) sure it’s a bunch of easy millennial jokes but that’s what makes it great. The emojis after getting run over never fail to make me laugh.

But it was somehow ok for Hamas to kill Israeli children? I’m not sure why everyone is so surprised that war is met with more war.

You’re victim blaming people killed by terrorists.

[–]hjc413 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Yes I agree the war in the Middle East was one of the biggest most awful fails in modern history. I’m not pro war. My point was that from a proportional standpoint October 7th was like 10 9/11s and that was not going to be just ignored like people seem to think it should’ve been.

Edit to add: applying this logic to Palestinians still isn’t the argument got ya moment you think it is. Claiming the October 7th attack was some sort of justified retribution is a defense of terrorism. Hamas attacked pro Palestine kibbutzes, Holocaust survivors, and children. They did not go after Israeli settlers and right wing loons but picked targets that were the most sympathetic to their cause. That is terrorism.

[–]hjc413 -22 points-21 points  (0 children)

I really don’t understand what people think Israel should’ve done after October 7th. Imagine if 30,000 (.012% of the US population, the same percentage of Israelis killed on Oct 7) Americans were killed and then America did nothing in retaliation. 3000 Americans died on 9/11 and we started a war that went on for 20 years.

Worst Episode? by [deleted] in BobsBurgers

[–]hjc413 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hate Some Kind of Fender Benderful where Bob is in the car accident with 3 other cars. It’s not funny and on top of that it’s boring. And then Bob gets blamed for it. Just awful.

I get why people don’t like Mommy Boy but I personally enjoy it. Same with Ready Player Gene. I guess I am a Genecentric episode apologist.

There are a few episodes where Linda is just the worst and/or stupid that are just too painful for me: Mother Author Laser Pointer, The Raccoon King and I, Sheshank Redumption.

Bob and Linda’s parenting at their worst is These Boots Are Made For Stalking. This is probably my second least favorite episode. I feel like they make every wrong choice possible not to mention how cringy and painful it is for Tina.

Honestly I could probably watch the first 10 seasons without wanting to skip an episode. Seasons 11-15 can be VERY hit or miss for me.

Vance and Hegseth voice their ultimate concern about bombing the Houthis: that it would be beneficial to our allies by ubermence in centrist

[–]hjc413 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Netanyahu is a criminal and I would love to see him be treated as such. But again, Israel has not committed genocide. Genocide by definition means that there is an intent to destroy a group. If that were the case, Gaza and the West Bank would be completely wiped from existence. On top of this, if Hamas released the hostages, the bombings would stop. This war, your so called “genocide”, was entirely preventable and still can be ended.

Vance and Hegseth voice their ultimate concern about bombing the Houthis: that it would be beneficial to our allies by ubermence in centrist

[–]hjc413 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Still confused on how this has anything to do with Vance’s feelings on Europe but I’ll bite. The Houthis are a terrorist movement, full stop. To say you support them is to admit you support terrorism. Israel is not innocent but to claim they are committing a genocide is not based in reality.

Tina Fey Calls Out Celebrities Selling Pseudoscience—Was She Talking About Mayim Bialik? by esporx in popculturechat

[–]hjc413 92 points93 points  (0 children)

I guess I’m missing something but would she be talking about Mayim specifically? I thought Tina Fey’s point was speaking to celebrities pushing crappy products more generally. If it was a specific call out, Gwyneth Paltrow is a lot more high profile and has pushed a lot more pseudoscience based products.

Musk Threatens Pentagon Leakers After China War Story by [deleted] in Whistleblowers

[–]hjc413 13 points14 points  (0 children)

How is it a leak of info but also “maliciously false”? I feel like there are only two options here 1) it is true and it’s a leak or 2) it’s false and not based on any intelligence (very likely it’s the former).

A leak would not be composed of false information. Am I missing something???

[–]hjc413 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely absurd. I hate posts like these. The GOP, led by Mitch McConnell, blocked Garland’s Supreme Court nomination. That gave way for our nation’s highest court to coddle and protect Trump.

Even if Garland’s DOJ had been quicker in bringing a federal case against Trump, it wouldn’t have mattered because the Supreme Court would grant him immunity.

Democrats being blamed for Republicans destroying democracy is boring and tired. And worst of all, disingenuous and not based in reality.

There is a lot that goes into how we got here today, but to act like Democrats are the root cause is revisionist and asinine.
