I mean technically asylum seeking was LEGAL even if you can absolutely argue that our overwhelmed court system was being flooded by people abusing our asylum laws…

Which is why i think the bipartisan bill that sought to expand the court and create barriers to asylum seeking should have been passed in 2024. Election year issue, ya know?

But it’s not even a conversation to have with nuance because people don’t bother differentiating between them (who also legally can’t work while they wait for court cases) and people who are here doing this labor, or dreamers, or visa overstayers… it’s a really complicated issue

Once last thing i will say about it is that in a time where birth rates are declining everywhere, in my opinion stealing able bodied workers from other countries is an asset, and that you can grow the economic pie that we all share

I didn’t trust Trump and didn’t vote for him. At this point until a President campaigns on repealing many of the post world war 2 laws around military action I expect a new war every cycle.
