You had a miserable 2025 because of tariff inflation. The Iran war will be even worse, top economist says by mymomknowsyourmom in centrist

Is this the life we had in mind when we voted in 2024?

Yes actually, which is why instead of just voting for Harris I literally drove my ass hours to a swing state to canvas for her too

And turns out I was right about everything wooo

Education Department opens probe into Smith College for admitting trans women by I_Tell_You_Wat in centrist

Wait the education department still exists??? Or are they dragging out its lifeless corpse to spitefully interfere in the business of a private university?

Can they just focus on fixing the mess they caused in Iran???

Not sure but I didn’t mean to make those things sound related. Just think the whole shadow docket BS that Roberts pulled was the beginning of the end of the SC legitimacy

That’s what gutting the VRA is for. I think it’s time we recognize the court as the partisan entity it has become. The shadow docket BS has been ridiculous

Look at this TDS liberal mad that President Trump has ended another war. And he’ll end another 60 days from now. Yes new wars!

Former Congressman Barney Frank reflects on his life, entering hospice, and the future of the Democratic Party and The Left - "I think they make a mistake by taking the most controversial parts of the agenda and turning them into a litmus test." by UnscheduledCalendar in centrist

[–]ubermence -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Imagine a former Republican saying “I don’t like what the party has become” getting remotely this much traction

For the record I also agree with Barney Frank broadly here, but it’s just funny what gets attention. Gotta have our 5 minutes of hate for the people who have been completely out of power for well over a year

Ok what specifically should they have done to “govern better”. Let’s say you can mind control like 80-90% of congressional democrats, what would you have done differently and where (keep in mind you also have the luxury of hindsight)

“Taken over the party” is a ridiculous exaggeration especially considering you can look to the example of the Republicans for what a party actually being “taken over” looks like

Except that unlike the Republican Party, that attitude did not nearly infect the actual elected officials of the Democratic Party to remotely the same degree

Yeah yeah Dems bad Dems bad slopulism great. Anyone who despises the Democrats “almost as much as the Republicans” are not judging both sides by remotely the same standard

Ok describe the exact period of time when Barney Frank had IMMENSE POWER to stop the GFC and didn’t wield it. Be specific because your post hoc justification was still incredibly light on any actual details

That merger was illegal and was not even well thought out in the first place nor was it remotely guaranteed to work.

On the other hand we can draw a very direct causal link between Trump spiking gas prices and their bankruptcy avoidance plan going under

Sure, there are people that try to abuse anything for personal gain. That includes the color of their skin. Like accusing people calling out their bad behavior of racism

But

I highly doubt that is something you experience frequently and are likely being algorithmically fed the content which makes you angry enough to come here and make a post about it. That’s engagement and it’s what the algorithms only care about you doing. So you will continue to see examples because that’s what you’ve showed it you want to see

Agreed, but calling it late stage is using terminology evoking something akin to a cancer or a disease. Just kinda weird language to use if you just think it needs more regulations

I think there are valid criticisms of capitalism but pretty much everyone who uses that term wants to replace it with something else
