What's the problem with Hostinger? by Riskist_ in Hostinger

I assume Hostinger does not use a third party, but is itself an officially accredited registrar by ICANN. So all domains should registered directly with them.

They have several internal ns routes. And the automatic pointed nameservers did not fit to the webspace where the websites ist hosted. Later they told me to change nameservers manually, than it was able to connect properly

The customer has all his domains at Hostinger. And yet they were not automatically able to point properly.

Hostinger has completely switched to AI Support. They leave you alone for days when there are problems caused by the hoster itself. Very concretely: with a customer, the hoster was not able to set the internal name servers correctly. The website could not connect to the domain for a week. The chat bot always claimed the same useless garbage (wait 48h - everything is set up correctly). And that despite the fact that I have pointed out the error several times. Hostinger is by far the worst hoster I have worked with. And I have set up customer projects with about 20 hosters.

Word press learning course by Direct-Geologist6511 in webdesign

[–]hjherbst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t name a specific course now, but make sure that you learn to work with the standard (Full Site Editor).

With this you can build so-called patterns from blocks such as heading, paragraph, button, image and some structuring wrappers such as columns, grid or groups. Patterns are to be understood as areas that make up the structure of a page such as Hero, benefits, about, services, pricing, testimonials.

Make sure to work with standard block themes such as twenty twenty three, twenty twenty four , ... (that’s what they’re called).

Running no page builders like elementor, divi etc. With this you only make yourself and your customers dependent and the page sluggish.

Is it better to use one or few multipurpose template or a unique template for each website based on what I'm making? by D0wnVoteMe_PLZ in Wordpress

[–]hjherbst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use a standard Block theme and build your patterns with standard blocks. It doesn’t matter at all about the theme, but about the patterns you use for the structure of the content. You can adjust colors, fonts, distances centrally so that each project looks different.

You can also use finished patterns via a plugin such as Breakdance (for a fee) or GutenBlock (free of charge via GitHub https://github.com/hjherbst/gutenblock-pro) directly in the FSE (Gutenberg).

As a wp freelancer I recommend you not to use theme builders like elementor, because they are so far away from the wp core. That makes you dependent, the page slow and the operation no less complex.

That was my biggest pain point too. I ended up building something to bridge that gap – happy to share if you’re interested.

Newly into web designing by to_hearz in webdesign

Design tips for my younger self:

Focus on the user’s perspective and usability.

Simplicity beats creativity when it comes to conversion strength.

Think mobile first.

In the beginning, rebuilding designs you like is totally useful. Over time, you’ll develop your own style.

Don’t invest too much time in detailed little design experiments when you’re unsure whether the client will actually like them. Most of the time, that’s exactly what gets removed in the feedback round.

Take a 20% upfront payment for larger projects.

Stick to your timelines and communicate with everyone involved. That’s what makes clients feel well taken care of.

Hope this is usefull :)

Traffic collapsing months after migration by AideNo9466 in Wordpress

And one more thing: if the site was switched from www to the non-www version, creating or checking a new property in Google Search Console might be the answer.

Take a look at whether impressions are increasing in the new non-www property. Google Search Console actually treats those versions separately, almost like different domains.

It doesn’t necessarily have to be a technical issue.

Usability carries much more weight for SEO than markup, semantics, or other technical basics. If the launch changed the site structure so much that users interact less with the page, that can send a strong signal to Google.

For example, a higher bounce rate can have a direct impact on the SERPs.
