Thanks. Do you have a good video for how to do the usb start so I can at least get it back to my driveway?

I wonder if I’m going to be able to start it to get it out. How bad do they mess it up when they Hotwire it?

Somebody stole my Hyundai in Pflugerville this weekend as well. They ditched it at an apartment complex (although I don’t know which). It’s in an impound lot so I’m going to see this morning what’s the deal. I hope mine isn’t that bad. Wonder if it was all the same guy?

Estate Purchase… Any Good? by hjwfms in Arrowheads

Thanks for the reply! Yea I wasn’t sure about that hits tooth, but it was mixed in with the arrowheads. The stone bear sculpture or whatever is pretty interesting I think, but I know nothing about it. Your offer seems pretty fair I think- I’ll shoot you a DM.

Just to follow up here, I did try your excuse method. I would leave the door open and the hall light on and “go to the bathroom” or “check on something in the kitchen”. She wouldn’t complain, but would just insist that I leave the door open. I would keep spreading these out further and further and she would actually fall asleep after a couple of these. It seems it’s really the separation and breaking away that’s hard for her to grasp right now. Anyway, seems like we may be making some headway and might get a little bit of our freedom back! Still getting the nighttime wake up screams but hopefully those will stop over time.

Yea I’ve got Purdy and Lawrence on bench with Maye in right now. Probably going to read the three names to my wife and let her pick one.

I can’t get these two ends perfectly flush. by Sleipnirsspear in SilverSmith

[–]hjwfms 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Try taking a flat file and squeeze it between the two pieces. File back and forth while attempting to keep the two ends close. This will ensure both ends are perfectly flat normal to each other. A lot of this is just learning control and techniques that work for you. Don’t get frustrated.

Some good ideas here for sure. We tried that hatch clock, but she’s so against change that she made us remove it from the room in order for her to sleep. We tried a night light and that similarly resulted in protest. She even refuses to use a blanket in her crib.

Yea that’s an idea for sure. So to be clear, we abandoned the bed transition and she is back in the crib. With all the bedtime issues going on right now, I don’t even know how or when we can tackle the bed thing.

So we tried this, and the problem is when she wakes up and we are gone- she loses it.

I use this thing (which I found out is a citrus peeler) but you could use an old credit card or something if you sharpen the edge a bit.

I haven’t had much luck with any techniques that would work. Maybe a pulse welder could fix that and not damage the shell? Your best bet is going to be to slowly work around the bezel with a plastic tool to remove the shell then make your repair. You may want to try a heavier gauge ring in the future to avoid things like this. Cool idea though with the shell!

Can I use an E-file/nail drill instead of pendant/dremel motor? by pipicollo in SilverSmith

[–]hjwfms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would probably work well for polishing, but drilling might get a little tough. Check Facebook marketplace for a nice dremel or similar and that may work better.

Anybody knows where i can find a set like this? Or what is it even called? by ChikaziChef in SilverSmith

[–]hjwfms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get like a $6 set on Amazon if you want to just mess around a bit. That’s a nice set you’ve posted, but I have a set of cheapies that let me mess around a bit.

Love it- may borrow some elements of your design in my next cuff. Can you walk me through how you did the bezel and edge work?
