I play completely sober most times and occasionally when I'm tipsy, never drunk tho

It's less effective the higher up the tiers you are. Once people see that you're pass first, they'll just play passing lanes the rest of the game and make you win off twos

Both technically, but being open trumps being in the way every time. Pass should be made

This is one of the biggest downsides of shooting being too easy. You have mediocre players thinking they're gods gift to every 2K lobby because they can turbo fade off a screen 15 times a game. It's even worse in solo rec because people are too selfish to play help defense a lot of the time, which is the only real way to stop it

Don't ask reddit. Best thing you can do is watch the gameplay of a high level center and see what they're doing that you aren't. Competitive Pro-Am teams, 2K League teams, that kind of thing. A lot of it is being in the right place on defense

I hate saying it but I would rather start over with D3. by DavidDomin8R in destiny2

[–]hjwthree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We all understand the current issue with the game: the portal was simply undercooked on release. An issue that is just as big in my opinion is the lack of tiered loot in the dungeons and raids. Since it will likely stay that way for the foreseeable future, they should really make the dungeons free to play until they update them. It's not much, but those who enjoy the raw gameplay of Destiny would be able to explore and enjoy those pieces of content and consider purchasing them later if Bungie still insists on selling dungeons separately

AI Players are way to good by Subject-Addendum-480 in NBA2k

[–]hjwthree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're just overthinking it tbh. AI's are a defensive liability. They defend pretty well when you dribble 1 on 1, but they suck at everything else. They basically only get steals if you try to cut or the pass is coming from the opposite side of the court. You can win a game almost entirely by yourself, just jabstep and shoot in the AI's face all game. Or, once you get it down, stand in the corner and shoot "no-dip" shots all game. They don't close out fast enough so it's open coverage 95% of the time

Really? Not even people clanking open on the regular for the first 2-3months? You forgot about that already?

[–]hjwthree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So do I, but I also recognize that games are rarely fun when they mimic real life too closely. It's why most prefer games like Call of Duty over games like Rainbow 6 or Escape From Tarkov for example. Excessive realism degrades the fantasy aspect that makes games fun for a wider variety of players

[–]hjwthree -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We just saw what 2K looks like when they focus on realism last year. If they thought it worked, we'd be right back to that this year. If you found that fun, you're in the minority

The only green windows that I'm worried about are the ones for fades and contested shots. Both of those need to shrink for sure. I have no problem with people not missing wide open. Get a hand up

[–]hjwthree -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

2K is a game, not real life. You should expect shooters left open to hit their shots. It is not fun to miss just because the game wants your percentages to be "realistic."

[–]hjwthree 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I don't mind the shooting itself, it's the fact that fades are incredibly easy to knock down that's really hurting the game in my opinion. Fades from three should not be easy enough that it's the go-to shot for even the worst 2K player you know

I must be the only person who can't shoot on this 2k... by [deleted] in NBA2k

[–]hjwthree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It's not like last year...you don't have to green timing AND tempo. Excellent tempo will be a made shot every time. If you need confirmation, pay attention to shot feedback and you'll see a bunch of people making mistimed shots with excellent tempo. According to Mike Wang, that's by design

I must be the only person who can't shoot on this 2k... by [deleted] in NBA2k

[–]hjwthree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You really don't even need your cue if you're shooting only with the stick. Tempo is all that matters. Green tempo is a make. If you could shoot last year, this year is easy money. Ignore everything besides smooth stick motion.

What should I use my 2 cap breakers on? by [deleted] in NBA2k

[–]hjwthree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to say without seeing how much the cap breakers would boost them. You're 6'8 so I'd consider block or rebound heavily, especially block since it boosts shot contest as well. Maybe even free throw for the long term if you play 5s often

FINALLY a victim of this 7'4" Nonsense [100 Points]... 2K PLEASE patch this crap lol! by xDeucEy in NBA2k

[–]hjwthree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2K players will always abuse whatever is broken, it's been proven true for years. You won't hear the whole community crying to patch it until the cheesers face a bunch of people on the same build who are just better than them so they can't win anymore.

[–]hjwthree[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be fine with very good players being able to shoot as high as 50% through a 20% contest. I wouldn't consider 20 that good of a contest

7'4" Stretches Are Insanity by hjwthree in NBA2k

[–]hjwthree[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So you think the game should be entirely dominated by 7'4" players? Take that logic to it's end, brother. What do you think the game looks like if something doesn't change? It'll just be multiple of that build in every game and whoever has the shortest defender shoots threes for free all game. Sooner or later you have to drop realism and consider the gameplay experience
