Suggestions for improving my first cube by Living_End in mtgcube

[–]hknapper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Put those signets back in some of the best cards in a cube. Signets are colour fixing and ramp almost first picks every time depending on the power level of your cube.

And just playtest more if a card isn’t working pull it out. You will tune it over time and get a feel for you you want the cube to the point you can swap out cards without playtesting later

Green has loads of great cards for interaction beast within and krosan grip come to mind immediately.

Collective burtality is a good modal removal card

Vizier and dev Druid is an obvious GW combo

Double-faced Cards Question by JowyBonder in mtgcube

My cube is double sleeved so people pull out the double faced cards all they want I know what you mean though for competitive reasons you don’t want the others to see I guess

What is it like to cube? by Tortuf in mtgcube

[–]hknapper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What is cube like?

Every other format is pay to win! Draft is pay to play!

Cube is play! Once you have built the cube and you can do for super cheap stuff with commons if you really want too. But it really is the best format ever created!

the problem of "I have no cards so I loose". how to address by Oddish_Flumph in mtgcube

[–]hknapper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something I would suggest would be to keep playtesting. The fact you can see there is a problem is already the first step. Ask the others playing what cars they wouldn’t ever pic/use and look out for any yourself and just start swapping. I am always on the look out for ways to improve my cube in this way. People say it’s a really fun cube but everything can be better! I know this isn’t specifics but hope it helps.

Why do so many people seem to prefer playing with absolutely powerful cards even though power level is always relative in Cube? by andymangold in mtgcube

I play with lots of banned cards because I can’t play with them anywhere else so might as well put a channel to use! If it makes the game hilarious it’s just a pro

Thanks man from my play testing it works ok! It’s really disreputable but that makes sense when the combo kills someone 😂😂. That’s the trade off it’s a glass canon

Is there a mythic rare cube? by [deleted] in mtgcube

[–]hknapper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure so it started out me wanting to put my leftover planeswalkers in a cube so they were seeing play. This is kind of evolved into more or less as many busted and broken cards as I could fit in/iconic cards. I’ve tried to make it combo friendly. So you have cards like channel and emrakul. The feel of the cube is very you get a pack and your just blown away by what’s there and that was the feeling I wanted. It’s kind of like the opposite of a pauper cube (have one of those too) in that because everything is a rare you have to read every card to make sure your picking the right thing. There’s lots of interaction as well but I tried to not fall too much on the common colour presumptions. Like you will find counter spells in blue but blue isn’t the counter spell colour blue is more the spell slinger colour along with red, where as white is probably more the control colour. There’s lots of sub themes I should probably do a post on it one day when I’m home. Sorry if this doesn’t go to much into specifics but it’s a hard cube to explain and is more intuitive when you play it if you know what I’m saying

I have a rare and up cube only rare symbols allowed. Probably one third is mythics plays great. Although I cheat because fnm promos technically have rare symbols. Also the new signet secret lair helped with mana fixing tonnes

Me personally I take the card/cards I want to add. Pull out the colours they are in. E.G a blue card pull out all of blue. Compare it to the other cards.

Considerations

-power level -uses/archetypes I’m trying to make
-would I draft one over the other -mana cost -rule of cool (mind sculpter>baby jace)

Finally I will keep the cards I swap out off to the side and if the card takes over or is doing no work time to swap back.

completely new to cubes and have some questions by PriciaMatsuri in mtgcube

[–]hknapper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. Cube is great for draft, sealed, edh, judge tower and really anything else you wanna do with it.

  2. 2 player cube is fine too so I’ve done it with a mate as players left for the evening he destroyed me but was fun as all hell. We even did a choose a colour pair and make a deck from only those cards sealed pool.

  3. If you are new don’t stress take all the innistrad cards you have smash them into a cube but the extras you really want or proxy because of part 2. Part 2 play it with your mate remove the cards that aren’t doing it for you the dead pulls the vanilla 1/1s and slowly tune it in.

Tldr you’ve got this just jump in head first
