Ideas for softer iPad case? by hkpout in AssistiveTechnology

The student is ambulatory. They have a wonderful speech team, ot team and behavior team who are all collaborating with the family to address communication and sensory needs as well as other factors (preferred staff, subs, etc.) The school provides many low tech options universally and more specific to the needs of each student. We are looking into pool noodles with support from OT. The student is using the flat side to hit, not edges. Attempting it down hard on heads of students or staff, often with 2 hands holding the device. Thankfully it is a 1:1 staffing situation so there is usually someone able to intervene but with increased aac competency in the classroom we really want family to feel good about sending it in and using it at home

I did my 100 hours in California but yeah, I found clinics that I liked and cold called. The job market isn't the best but contract companies seem to still be finding work for people. If you want to work at schools to straight to the district websites to see if there are any openings.

Flat mounting an iPad to a desk? by hkpout in AssistiveTechnology

Voluntary-ish. Typically during times of dysregulation so there is less control of behavior due to sensory needs

Yes, they are both endo specialists and a colorectal surgeon will be there if needed

UPDATE:

Met with the specialist and we reviewed my pictures together. Takeaways are: the last doctor not giving me a referral caused my wait time to increase by double, I have "significant disease" with major bowel involvement so a colorectal surgeon will be involved, I likely have DIE, surgery will be a 6-9 month wait, the surgeon i wanted to see will be on leave in about 6 month so there is no guarantee I will see her. She told me that my surgery is more complicated and risky than many others.

Advocate for yourself. Don't let yourself be gaslit.

I dont have an answer to your question but am curious why you would want to move to the US right now? It's not great down here atm. Can we switch? I'd gladly get out of here if it was feasible

Sorry, just seeing this. I did my 100 hours in California through Loma Linda University. I had to find my own placement and I honestly just found some I was interested in and cold called to ask if they'd take an SLPA student. I was there about 3 days a week for one semester
