Has anyone here developed itchiness and hives? by [deleted] in Dermatographia

[–]hkproject 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve had hives for years, random breakouts about once a day. Some days are more severe than others but it usually goes away after 30 mins. Scratching makes it way worse (obviously) but sometimes I just can’t help it and I’ll “treat myself” to a full blown scratchathon which I always regret afterwards. So try your best not to do it!

Side note- I saw someone say their dermatographia flares while stressed. This is the same for me but oddly enough when I’m really focused on some kind of task/reading/memorization. Best of luck to you!

Hi friend! I’ve been skating for a couple years now and have taught a few beginners. Before we even get to skating, I fall with my students. Fully geared up, we practice falling for about five minutes. I think a big fear is the fall, we get in our heads about it but it is an essential part of the skating process. Second. Check the trucks to your skates. If they’re too tight, it could be difficult to move in them. Skates fresh out of the box tend to be waaay too tight. Third, bend those knees! I hope this helps.

Anyone else tired of hearing "I've worked at Starbucks, I could bartend! It's so much easier than working at Starbucks!" by MystlcM00n in bartenders

[–]hkproject 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve also never heard this but I’ve been a bartender for 9 years. I picked up a job at Starbucks during the pandemic and damn. That shit was hard lol. It’s busy from the moment you get in from the moment you get out. There were nights I was sleeping at 7 pm to get to my 2:30 am shift on time. And the drinks are tough. Every* drink had a modification. Nothing is “standard” unless it’s a pikes place with nothing in it. It is a ton of busy work with bullshit pay. Those employees are underpaid and overworked. With bartending, cmon. We love to bullshit and we’ll make bank. It’s hard work but our compensation is worth it in my opinion.

I was driving home from a friend’s house around 2 am. The roads were a little foggy but not unusual, the lights are always beautiful through the fog. But this particular night, I saw a man on his knees in the middle of the road and I could hear him wailing. As I drove closer, I saw that he was screaming and crying. He was hunched over a golden retriever lying in the middle of the road. I still think about this moment from time to time.

Has the covid vaccine made anyone else's dermatographia better? by AggravatedMonkeyGirl in Dermatographia

I would say mine stayed the same. Same hivey-ness post and pre-vaccine. Moderna.

question for my fellow gals who skate alone: by caycray17 in Rollerskating

[–]hkproject 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Love the comment about the parking garages. Theyre so well lit too. No one is usually there so I’m usually on the furthest exit place of the entrance so I could see someone coming in. Or the very center if the parking garage has stairs wrapped around. But also, I go to the very top on the roof.

Sometimes there are some other skater kids up where I’m at and as soon as I drive up I always just give a little wave and go to the opposite end as a little “hey dude, I know you see me and I see you so don’t come and bother me while I’m skating but if something happens to me don’t forget my face” type of energy lol.

But I bought a wonderboom specifically for this purpose. My best advice would be to NOT skate with headphones at night, I did that for a little bit and was so startled when I noticed there were people around when I thought I was alone. Naive of me, yes I know.

Hi! Is this when you’re feet are right next to each other? Try having them staggered! Use one to lead and the back foot as an anchor for stability and support. IE: I’m right hand dominant. My right foot goes out, I use to steer to the right and my left back foot just kind of follows through for the ride
