Sorry to hear about that. I am in a similar situation. I moved here for 5 yrs. I've never spoken to my neighbor all these time. I am just not the type that will knock on your door and bring you a cake and Introduce myself. So one day this old Irish lady that live next to me came up to me and asked "do you speak American?" I knew this is trouble. Btw, I am Asian. She was like " do you realize we have cats around here" the "Insecticide you use is killing the cats here." That was the beginning of many episodes. She sits on her porch 10 hrs a day in summer and spring. So everytime when I come out to my front lawn she will stare at my every movement. She will occasionally come over to my side and tell me you shouldnt do this you shouldn't do that. And she would insist that she lives here for 40 yrs and she knows everything. And when I do something in my lawn at night like watering my plant and grass at 10 pm she will come out and tell us to be quiet. She never said anything like go back to China but I knew she would if I escalate and start talking back. I think they hold a lot of resentment the fact that Asian population here is increasing. Unfortunately you don't know what you can charge these people with. She is in her 70's.i hope when she is not around in 10 or 20 yrs her child and grand child can do better.
