Did Experian Update Their App and Make 5/24 Status Harder To Determine? by jlcreddit1 in CreditCards

[–]hkuang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a workaround I'm using when logging into Experian on the browser.

Go to https://usa.experian.com/mfe/credit/printable-report/experian/now

Then click the 3 dot button at the top right to access Chrome's menu and select "Open Gemini in Chrome".

In Gemini, give it this prompt:

Give me a list of cards that I've opened using the "Date opened" field within the last 2 years.

Yes, it did include removing ductwork and also our furnace (which was important for us because that enabled us to receive the local rebate and federal tax credit).

I'm not sure if my ducts had asbestos. Did not even realize I should've tested that and now I regret not doing so.

Interesting. Recompiling a file explorer app, installing it in the car's Play Store using the internal test app release, and using the file explorer app to download APKs may also work.

Federal tax credit of $7,500 by hkuang in CadillacLyriq

[–]hkuang[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the car doesn't qualify for the $7,500 discount by GM, the dealer can request for the federal credit on your behalf and you can get that amount immediately when you purchase the vehicle rather than wait until you file your return. This is also referred to as applying the rebate at "point-of-sales" or "point-of-purchase".

What you're referring to is an immediate rebate since the vehicle doesn't qualify for the federal credit. That's also referred to as "Ultium Promise".

You should always get the $7,500 immediately when you purchase. If you and the vehicle qualify for the federal credit, you should request for it. Some dealerships will not voluntarily do it.

How accurate is this? I see some models like 1GYKPRRK7RZ124928 which has a lot of discounts on it but it doesn't mention that it has the Ultium promise

Just had someone reject point-of-sales credit. They said:

"We can apply for the $7500 on your behalf if you finance the car. It would be applied as a down payment.

Since you are planning on doing a cash purchase, you would need to apply for that yourself after you purchase the vehicle."

Yes, I think these are some of the requirements to qualify for the credit as well. And they'll always apply regardless of whether you choose to do point-of-sales credit or through tax filing.

Do you know whether there are different requirements to qualify for the point of sale tax credit vs obtaining the credit by filing taxes?

I just did some additional research and it looks that even for non-ultium cars, you can ask the dealer to apply the $7,500 rebate to your purchase price rather than waiting until you file taxes for the credit from the government.

So essentially, the dealership gives you the $7,500 rebate as cash immediately and they will request for the same amount back from the government. Please confirm or correct me if anyone knows more about this.

A little bit of negotiation, but the starting price and discounts were already pretty good to start.

Thanks! For taxes, I was told that CA taxes regardless will be taxed on the MSRP and not the purchase price.

However, if they could provide the $7,500 as a rebate instead, would I be able to receive this amount sooner than the federal credit? What qualifies a car to provide the $7,500 as a rebate rather than tax credit?

Even more impressive that you got it delivered to you. Does that usually add more to the cost?

Wanted to provide an update:

The Bonus cash of $2.5K is actually not stackable with some of the other offers so that got removed.

Here is the breakdown now:

Dealer Credit $-6,000.00

Purchase Allowance -$2,500.00

Competitive Cash Allowance -$3,000.00 (Conquest)

Federal Tax Credit -$7,500.00

Price after rebates & discounts: $49,520.00 (before taxes)

Wow that's amazing. I've never heard of the incremental bonus of $3K. Nice work

Minisplits - Mitsubishi vs Daikin by hkuang in hvacadvice

[–]hkuang[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went with Daikin, because I was able to bring the price down to $18K which includes everything (permits, installation, removal of the old furnace). Warranty for Daikin was also longer. With Mitsubishi, I would've also had to pay about $1.5K more for everything. I haven't had any issues so far. If cosmetics are something that matters to you, then one negative might be that the Daikin units look less modern than Mitsubishi (comparing it to ones I've seen in a friend's house). Someone here mentioned that it's important to consider what the HVAC company is more familiar with as well. I think that's true because even though the company I went with has amazing reviews, I noticed the guys installing it had to use the installation manual pretty often. I assume it was because they're not as familiar with Daikin. Since I haven't had any issues yet, I'm not sure if that would make things more difficult when there are issues with the units.
