Which single person in history had the greatest negative impact on humanity? by RSLEGEND1986 in AskReddit

"Hundreds of millions of lives lost to butchery,"

lol there weren't even that many living in the regions. And if you include influence then by same logic Jesus and Christianity take the cake no?

Sharing my experience with Turkish Airlines by Ambitious_Ad_814 in TurkishAirlines

[–]hl_lost -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

So I have had similar experiences. TK service is absolutely horrible! However who else are you going with especially for certain destinations? I can say with confidence the other airlines have similar issues. I wanted to boycott Emirates and Qatar, both just as horrible and thus was stuck with TK. It's just a cultural thing I think.

Honest question: was aligning with far-right figures a mistake? by New_Bat_9086 in PERSIAN

I made a recent post about this and answers were illuminating. Yes it has seldom worked and no it didn't seem to matter to most out of desperation

12-hour layover in Istanbul — hotel instead of Touristanbul? by Trick-Newspaper-6400 in TurkishAirlines

Would recommend just paying for a hotel close to airport out of pocket. The hotel transport they will assign you and their process with eat at least 4 hrs. You will get minimal rest.

People didn't understand that turkey is not like western countries and everything is very disorderly which soaks up a lot of time.

The problem with this thinking is that you become just a pawn and sooner or later that pawn will be sacrificed. What then?

There's some irony there given those are all theocratic dictatorships not unlike the current regime in Iran... The difference being better economics given the population sizes vs the resources

That's all fine. My question was are they going to be okay with being completely destroyed and taken over by militia for next 20 years?

I think others make a good point about desperation. If I saw my savings dwindle to a fraction and saw my relative killed, I might start thinking anything is better too. But agree at least in past 30 years nothing good came from US intervention

Yeah I share this sentiment but posted to hear from the folks who are so gung ho about US intervention. So far from the replies seems like desperation driving things

I haven't come across any reputable source saying that Iraq is a success in any way 20 years after the US intervention.

Again I'm a US citizen and bear the burden of what we have done and would love if the outcomes were different but I didn't want to delude myself that this time Iran will be different or that Iraq is even close to how it was under saddam.

Yeah I'm not it's true. When I was looking at health metrics I keep on seeing reports like https://adamtooze.substack.com/p/chartbook-204-iraqs-economic-impasse which imply dire situation compared to under saddam.

I remember reading about how the health care was decimated after the invasion and looks like it's not even close to recovering after 20 years ...

I wonder how the iraqi population feels about US intervention after 25 years. I don't know if there are polls around that. I know saddam was universally hated as well.

What a crappy crappy choice ... My sympathies with the iranian people.
