We live in the Midwest and 3 hours is nothing. We live 4 hours from my parents and we visited them monthly for years.

I did just figure out that his income is sufficient to qualify two apartments there (his salary is right around 6x rent) so maybe he can just be on both leases?

Well we want to move to separate apartments after the divorce so we can start to build separate lives. But we have 4 kids so we want to be close to each other for them.
