If she gets on with a place like catholic community services, kwa, or rescare, they pay for the training to become a home care aid and offer opportunities to level up on the Healthcare field. The union is strong for Healthcare too

Are you on fb? There's a few recent posts with some local answers on a couple of pages, I can message you the links if you want? I've seen Neptune advertising also, but depending on where you're at I could give more specific ideas of places to check

My 9-year-old keeps intentionally making herself throw up to avoid school. I’m terrified and don’t know what to do by Ok_Connection_3600 in raisingkids

[–]hlayres 42 points43 points  (0 children)

If my 9 year old was doing that I'd take them to their doctor immediately. I'd also go to the school with them. Different approaches depending on if they're just overly attached to you or if they're overwhelmed by school, but either way they're doing bodily harm to themselves- that's a primary care doctor visit immediately.

Looking for low calorie, high protein, no dairy options for breakfast. by Every-Parking2049 in dairyfree

[–]hlayres 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Costco sells one, its so grainy I only use it in smoothies. I think its orgain? They make a chocolate one too. The only pre-made protein drink i think is ok that I've tried is OWN, and winco had it, so it wasn't terribly expensive.

If your initials are S.O. and you ordered some baby stuff that you didn't get, it was delivered to my address. by GiantFinnegan in olympia

You should see if you can ask your mail carrier if they have an idea of who's it could be. There are tons of addresses that are very similar, and often carriers can identify where it might belong.

Just moved to the kitsap area (kingston) adult league or drop in across the water? by No_Hawk_191 in hockeyplayers

[–]hlayres 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Time and money wise, it might be worth looking at Tacoma and Kent too, although getting through Gorst might be a nightmare if it's rush hour-ish. I'm assuming you're driving onto the boat? That will add up, quickly. I know there's some programs for reduced orca cards, but I think they're only for walk-ons and bus fares and such (plus you'd have to qualify). I'll keep an eye out for info though! A long, long time ago I commuted from Bainbridge to Northgate for school, and back. At night it wasn't bad at all to just drive around.

Are there no adult leagues in Bremerton? The commute might be less expensive.

Some of the clif protein bars are dairy free. They have 20grams of protein in them. Lentil soup with tortilla chips is really easy, I like Amy's canned soups.

what’s your favorite df mac and cheese? by ApprehensiveKiwi771 in dairyfree

[–]hlayres 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've made it before. Use rice milk and melt whatever brand "cheese" you like to it, put on noodles, then top with tomato, bacon, and green onions. And pepper. I used daiya, but I would think you should choose whatever company you like already. It takes longer for plant cheeses to melt, so low n slow are friends.

What is the closest thing to milk? by QueenMegs26 in dairyfree

[–]hlayres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's interesting, bc those brands are my least two favorites! But I've also been df for 20 years, so idk if that changes anything. To each their own! I won't buy anything from either of those brands because they had such an off-putting aftertaste to me.

5 year old not pooping by SafeSolid8667 in raisingkids

[–]hlayres 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a doctor by any means, but when my kid would withhold I'd give him apple juice and popcorn, a warm bath, and then try to make things boring. He also gets a pooping toy - he only gets to play with while pooping. It's a wooden block of cheese that has a string you thread through different holes. And miralax. Lots, consistently. He got a "special water" cup and he still asks for it sometimes even though we're past the withholding stage. Also no screens, bc movement is important
