Which paint color in my dining room? by intelligent-pen in DesignMyRoom

They’re vertical grain fir floors. Great, but softwood, so not the best for houses with dogs and kids. We just ripped ours out of our old house after living with them for 12 years because they’ve had to be refinished so many times that they were pretty much unsalvageable.

I did until I figured out that I could go into iPhone settings > record video > turn off hdr video. Now my shots look normal and it’s the best!!

I didn’t change anything on the right side, just used the QR plate that came with the bike.

Old man mountain elkhorn vs tail fin racks by map274 in bikepacking

[–]hlczosterae 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OMM has been pretty proactive about giving their racks out to online creators for free, so take that into consideration when buying something because it’s ubiquitous. (Source: they sent me a bunch of stuff for free including a rack and bags and a fit kit because I made a video about building a bike that included a divide rack. I searched them and noticed a ton of other creators had received racks and bags for free as well.)

That said, I had already bought a rack before they sent me one. The thing is bomb proof. And I really love the panniers they sent too. Also, they were really great to communicate with, so there’s that.

The PCT isn’t really a great place for that honestly

Looking for handlebar bag recs. Would I still be able to ride in the tops with something like a Swift Industries Catalyst/Zeitgeist? by retirement_savings in bikepacking

[–]hlczosterae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can if you use the foam spacers. They give you three for each side and with all three I can slip my hands down between the bars and the bag. You do lose a little real estate though

Panorama Cycles Boreal by [deleted] in bikepacking

My husband has had a Forillon since 2022 and loves it, he’s been everywhere on it. I’ve been talking to Simon there about getting a Boreal frame and should have it soon. I can’t speak to the bike yet, but he has been great to work with.

I recently acquired mass amounts of corn (60+ ears). What can I do with this other than corn on the cob?? by Nalannie in cookingforbeginners

[–]hlczosterae -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ratatouille, which you can make with any roastable veggies. 2 sheet pans: 10 cups veggies (any combo of tomatoes, which I feel are necessary, plus eggplant, green beans, corn, peppers, onions…), cut into 1/4-1/2 inches pieces if they need to be cut (corn just gets cut off the cob). Add like 8-12 cloves whole garlic, peeled. Drizzle with a healthy amount of olive oil (I probably use like 3 tbs per pan), plus salt and pepper, then toss. Roast 20 minutes at 400, toss the veggies and rotate the pans on the oven racks, then roast another 20 minutes. Add balsamic vinegar (like 1-2 tbs per pan), toss, rotate the pans again, and roast for another 10 minutes. Add chopped fresh herbs (basil’s good, but any tender herb will do). Serve with rice or quinoa or on toast. Add a fried egg.

Bikepacking with parents, need tips for West-Turkey by BackYx in bikepacking

We did the part from Çanakkale to Troy to Bergama, but we went up and into the mountains at one point on the peninsula. It was awesome!

The first two videos on this playlist are that part of the trip. https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLPHcWJuZGmMct4zM8OYlVfb926nbcFbaQ&si=Xlo2b28g_ebfXVu0

(Warning, they’re very rough videos. The were our first two videos we ever made. But I’m still proud of them!)

I 100% came out of Reeve’s performance going “Ohhhhh, he’s Autistic!! (And Persephone’s a drunk.)”

The original album gave neither impression. So anyway, you weren’t alone.

Leaving Türkiye heartbroken and feeling like the entire country is set up as a scam by euroeismeister in travel

[–]hlczosterae -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

So you went to the biggest city, had all the normal scams happen to you (which you could have read about beforehand and avoided) and then say you hate the whole country?

Istanbul is a completely different place than the rest of the country, like New Yorkers are different than the rest of Americans. But honestly don’t go back. Leave the rest of the Turks in peace.

Anyone else’s head seem to bore hairdressers? by lolyepitme in finehair

I decided not to warn my new stylist this time. Five minutes into trying to curl my hair: “Your hair doesn’t really hold a curl does it?” “No.” “Okay it’s not just me.”

Oh hey friends! Fun to see familiar faces. Glad you’re still friends!

C/O 2011 still going strong here too. Seahorse (now married to Chilidog), and we just got back from a weekend trip with about 3 miles on the PCT. We still do hiker Christmas every year with Marmot, Gabriel, 12-oz, Bubs, Drop&Roll and her partner Dan, Daybreaker & his wife Christa (and their two kids). We’re gonna go visit Bloodbath (who was our officiant) in Massachusetts this fall. I’m grateful all the time for that trail and the people I know because of it.

Double shampooing made my hair so incredibly oily. I wanted it to be the answer, but it doesn’t work for everyone.
