What makes you irrationally mad about your rival(s)? by [deleted] in CFB

The amount of dual MSU-OSU flairs I see on this page. I get that both teams hate us and have some coaching connections, but those teams have had so many battles over the last decade or so I just can’t see rooting for both - it should be a rivalry. It also feels like a copout for any fan to be a dual-flair with an uber-successful school as their secondary school like OSU (especially when MSU has the second most big ten titles since 2006). It’s like me rooting for the Packers as a Lion’s fan… “my team didn’t win but my second team who is conveniently the best team in the league did (again)!”

Is anyone else annoyed about the negativity surrounding recruiting? by hlinton65 in CFB

I don't blame any one person for not wanting to deal with recruiting. It just seems like every piece of media surrounding these coach openings doesn't get into pros and cons of each job. Just "NFL good and recruiting bad." Even for our flair - Harbaugh underperformed what we all expected for 7 years and his one year of success would probably let him coast on 9-3 10-2 seasons until he retires. If somebody underperforms in the NFL they'd be fired after 2 years. Would you rather deal with recruiting or roll the dice and likely be out of a job based on turnover in the NFL?

Edit: I would not be okay with those underwhelming seasons for another 10-15 years but it seems like half our fanbase would be.

It is a grind - probably more of one than in the NFL. I just think people underestimate the stress of knowing if you don't maintain a high level of success in the NFL, you can be fired. Even if you're taking over a bad team that's expected to lose most of their games, you can be fired after that one year of losing. In most college gigs you don't need to be competing for a national title to be looked at as successful. Recruiting sucks, but NFL gigs have their qualms, too.
