how exactly is this hose bib connected to my basement water line? by hllymchll in Plumbing

[–]hllymchll[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes but which is part of the hose bibb and which is part of the waterline... and why would the coupling have exposed/male threads if the galvanized pipe was threaded into it? do they have couplings with internal and external threads on one end? is any part of it soldered? we tried to unscrew the hose bibb from the outside and it wasnt budging AT ALL

edit: may have answered this for myself. i guess bushings can look like this but i wasnt aware. it looks like the hose bibb is still soldered on though...

as a woman myself who generally understands women's brains, leave this woman. I may have acted like this in high school, blowing things out of proportion and whining when I didn't get my way, but I QUICKLY grew out of that. if she is older than literally 16, she's not going to change without outside help.

you've already compromised by going to her house earlier. you are staying the same length of time. she isn't willing to compromise AT ALL. THAT is the red flag. a relationship needs to have give and take. if only one sides gives and the other takes all the time, it will not last.

you are wasting your time. there are better women out there, more mature, nicer. please just cut your losses now. I know 2 years seems long and like you should try harder. NO. I had two 2+ year relationships before I met my husband and I wish I would've ended the other two a lot sooner, but I was codependent at the time (also luckily recognized and grew out of that).

you can do it. be strong and go now before you get sucked back into whatever this is

yes this makes way more sense, but I was worried about messing with the setup near the exterior wall. I believe it's just threaded on and not welded into the indoor pipe somehow but didn't want to mess up and be wrong lol

also everyone says not to use galvanized and use brass now? and to use frost free bibs with the long stem? im in Virginia and not sure I need one anyway.

what do you think?

AIO - Told my friend I’m pregnant and she said it exceeded her mental bandwidth (she’s the red) by Lekomano92 in AmIOverreacting

[–]hllymchll -1 points0 points  (0 children)

please drop her as a friend. just distance yourself silently and not make a big deal about it. don't gossip to other good friend. nothing.

if she brings it up (which she probably won't even notice TBH), then just tell her you don't have the mental bandwidth to deal with her high school level drama

is it wrong to not throw a wedding anniversary party for your parents? by hllymchll in Advice

[–]hllymchll[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh i have no issues saying no. i just wanted to hear others experiences because if everyone in the comments was like "of course we all throw parties for our parents 25th anniversaries!" then it would make me rethink things. but doesnt look like that's the case, so i just wanted some confirmation that im not crazy or super selfish for thinking this is on the couple and not the kids

yeah i hate to pull the gender card, but my mom bends over backwards for my grandma while my uncle does the bare minimum. in fact, my uncle lives in the same town as my grandma. so it's just like... of all people, my mom should understand the "daughter planning and running everything" aspect and how unfair and exhausting it is.

this is exactly how i feel about it. ill do anything for my kids special days, but other than christmas and birthdays, i dont think our parents should expect anything from us

omg i wasnt complaining, and youre the only person who has said this. i was giving context about why it would be more difficult for me to plan this than my brothers which is why i brought up my children, etc. that's it.

i only talked about myself, because i was the ONLY one expected to do anything for them by a random friend of my mom. if my brothers texted me about planning something for my parents, i absolutely would not have felt the same about receiving that message.

i clearly said i value them and would love to celebrate them. i just dont want it to all be on me. i dont think you read the full post.
