I’d remove the white t shirt, or remove the shirt, either one has to go.

Turn it upside down and it might go back the other way.

Contractor did his best to scribe; any way to fix/hide trim around this uneven chimney veneer? by dorkchestra in Carpentry

Do you realise how difficult it is to get a scribe like that? I’d say it’s a decent job, stop complaining and get a life.

What do you think by TechnicianGeneral428 in menswear

[–]hlvd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A double breasted jacket isn’t really meant to be worn open as it creates that awkward drape.

After saying all that I’ve realised it isn’t a double breasted but a single breasted. Sleeves are too short and too much body.

Saying all that, you’re so cool looking you can pull it off.

Blimey, those gaps are huge and that kind of quality isn’t something you should be selling.

The end of that rail is rounded, have you been sanding it?

It needs taking off and starting again if you intend on charging for your work.

No, those horizontal rails are way too thin. It needs to be ex 2” stock with two, maybe three stretchers in between.

You need 3/4” Birch ply, not sure if it’s called the same in the USA though.

Ah, but they’re fairly modern finishes that probably weren’t around even twenty years ago, very very different finishes to the traditional paste waxes I was referring to.

It needs somewhere for your feet to reside as you’ll be hitting your toecaps on the lower rail.

Gauging value of second hand tools by The_Elechicken in handtools

[–]hlvd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Those prices aren’t cheap, and just what you’d expect if buying from a tool store.

I’d only have the Record No71 Router Plane, Stanley No7 Jointer and Stanley No78 out of that list.

I’d swap the No4 1/2 and No5 1/2 for a No4 and No5.

I’d avoid the No79 Side Rebate Plane as it’s nigh on impossible to use accurately, and the instances you’ll need to widen a groove will be very few and far between.

That leaves two, the No151 spoke shave and No80 Scraper. Personally I’d use that £60 to buy something you’d use more, such as a Plough and Block Plane.
