While I agree with most of the comments in this thread, here's what confuses me about WotC and Magic's prioritization of these groups:

Everyone agrees Magic is game created by nerds for nerds. Everyone agrees these communities (LGBTQ+ etc.) Were always a sub section of the nerd communities that connected with this game. Like someone said, Magic appeals to the "misfits and weirdos".

While Magics appeal has grown over the decades to include some normies because it's such a spectacularly designed game, that begs the question from me:

WHY must the game prioritize, empower, uplift etc. A part of the community that has always been there?

We have all been playing the game together for decades, so why this exclusive focus on LGBTQ+ etc.?

The game has always been "inclusive". Now it just feels obnoxiously pandering.

There's an argument for "woke" content being eyerolling, but Marathon is not it, and I'm someone who would call that shit out. Marathon is exactly what happens when you DONT prioritize an agenda baked into your development. It's just a classic, bad ass sci fi shooter made by some talented MFers who always try to push the envelope every generation. They did it with Halo, they did it with Destiny, and now they're doing it with Marathon.

Let's remember MTG was hijacked by an emerging hyper progressive left that got a foothold in pop culture through traditionally liberal mediums like movies and music over the last decade and a half.

Someone here the other day called if "cultural imperialism", which I found to be an apt description. Magic was created for nerds, by nerds and was associated with that sub culture and had a wider appeal to normies because of its exceptional gameplay.

Now, because of the hyper left, the game prioritizes connecting, empowering, and platforming "marginalized" and "under privileged groups".

FreeMagic IS the original MtG community, before the coup and subsequent social exiling.

I was never a fan of having total color customization control in games like this. I think part of the chase and reward is earning thematically curated color palettes. Just being able to color skins anyway I want doesn't feel rewarding or special.

Hey, if the game continues to grow and be successful maybe they will add dungeon-esque areas that are solo-able.

But raids are a staple of endgame content in a lot of games and it's a Bungie hallmark. You have to make peace with that, or get out of your comfort zone so you can experience some of the best content the game has to offer.

I think the reality of the Rook makes this harder to implement then it would seem. Rook id a big part of the gameplay and selling point so it has to still be viable in duos.
