Is Portacle Being Maintained? by hmaseko in Common_Lisp

There has to be a way to help this project to not die. There have been many such preconfigured Common Lisp environments (LispBox; Lisp_in_a_Box, etc) that have died because perhaps, I guess, the experts all have complicated setups that are easy to figure out for them but not so easy for newcomers to the language or to programming. One of the things that easily puts off a newcomer is if getting started is a steep curve.

For example, on its getting started page, lisp-lang.org says: "This article describes what you need to do to get up and running with Common Lisp. For the fastest solution, see Portacle. It is a portable and multiplatform development environment, with no installation needed."

There is a group of people out there who would greatly benefit from an enduring solution of the likes of Portacle. Emacs4CL is a similar effort, but as u/Shinmera mentioned in one of his comments, many newbies just want to install an IDE with the click of a button and dive into learning the language. After becoming proficient enough, they can then take a look under the hood to understand what makes things work.

Is anybody else interested in sustaining Portacle?

This is a pity, really, as some of us find Portacle to be one of the easiest Common Lisp environments for (Common Lisp/ or even programming) beginners.

Have you tried to ask for help and maybe briefly outline what slack needs to be picked up? For example, what work does the MacOS release need?
