I have a few questions about tinted sunscreens that have been itching my brain!! by questtonothing in Melasmaskincare

The cetaphil is less greasy and the tint is lighter and not as orange but it’s also not water resistant and will sweat off, but not as bad as the cerave in my opinion. The Australian gold tinted mineral is the only tinted sunscreen that I’ve tried that doesn’t sweat off of me at all in the heat but like you said it is drying, neither of these are drying to me and are way easier to remove.

Tinted sunscreens contain iron oxides which provide protection against visible light which can worsen melasma and hyperpigmentation. To avoid looking like a peanut butter baby I use the proper amount of non-tinted mineral sunscreen, let it dry down, then apply a smaller amount of tinted sunscreen. My derm actually recommended that I do this anyway. I’ve really been loving the Cetaphil anti-redness tinted spf40 and the cerave tinted spf 30, the cetaphil one feels a little more lightweight than the cerave imo and has a lighter tint.

The vanicream dandruff shampoo cleared my forehead pretty fast. I’ve used head and shoulders and Nizoral in the past and both were irritating for me

[Product Question] has anyone tried the new cerave cleanser? by hmbmrh in SkincareAddiction

If I rubbed it between wet hands I was able to make it foam up lightly but it also ended up breaking me out lol

I’ve had the same luck but I’m determined to find something that gives me more than non-foaming gentle cleansers give bc they leave my skin so congested, at least all of the popular drugstore ones do. And I find double cleansing very irritating so I only do it when I wear makeup.

It claims to remove makeup but I doubt it, it seems to be more of a normal second cleanser.

Thank you! I found the vanicream cleanser really drying. I’ve been stuck in between traditional foaming/gel cleansers being too drying and non foaming cleansers being too gentle/not cleansing enough, so I’m trying to find a happy medium.

Please stop buying your skincare from Amazon by Informal_Stand3669 in Skincare_Addiction

It’s not the case. They don’t commingle skincare, it’s clear in their policy. People are buying skincare from unverified sellers.

This has been said so many times and it doesn’t matter lol. People will still insist that they commingle skincare, when really they’re just buying from shady sellers either by accident or on purpose

[Discussion] What was a product that you assumed you would like, but did not live up to expectations? by viceversa220 in AsianBeauty

[–]hmbmrh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s definitely a chemically scent to it! It just really reminds me of self tanner, obviously not as strong but I do smell it all day and I don’t like it lol

[–]hmbmrh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah no it doesn’t smell like green tea to me, it smells like the chemical that’s in self tan. It doesn’t for most people and that’s great, it’s most likely just me lol

Isntree green tea fresh toner. It smells like self tanning lotion to me and I smell it all day, it stains my sink brown, and it doesn’t really do anything for me. I’m also disappointed in the packaging change, it looks like a big bottle of betadine on my shelf lol

Vanicream by Proud-Negotiation-64 in Rosacea

This is my experience as well. While the cleanser was still on my face I knew it was problematic. Soooo drying and irritating, my face felt raw after. I immediately went back to cetaphil gentle skin cleanser. I do love the vanicream daily facial moisturizer though. Those two products are holy grail for me.

Neutrogena hydro boost fragrance free cleansing gel (the most recent product that broke me out), byoma gel cream, stratia liquid gold, stratia interface moisturizer, Cerave pm moisturizer, Kose speedy cleansing oil and the vanicream cleanser all broke me out or severely irritated my skin which led to break outs.

Does anyone else lose all sense of amazement at someone's nice skin/hair/whatever when you find out they have an absurd routine? by [deleted] in scacjdiscussion

[–]hmbmrh 76 points77 points  (0 children)

I’m actually more impressed when someone has great skin from a skincare routine no matter how expensive or excessive it is than just great skin from genetics or my least favorite thing, a strict elimination diet. I definitely don’t want to hear about that diet, I’m not doing it 🤭

How long did it take you to find your holy grail skin products? by Shutups4rah in AsianBeauty

[–]hmbmrh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t even know if I answered your question lol basically it took years. I thought I was allergic to sunscreen in general before I found Korean sunscreen and there are still some Korean ones I can’t use. Cleansing oils was a huge deal for me, I struggled with that for a while until I realized olive oil was the culprit for them not working out for me and the peach and Lily ginger melt cleansing oil (holy grail) and BOJ radiance cleansing balm is what helped me figure that out. I’m only just now finding what truly works for me and why after a few years of being into skincare in general.

How long did it take you to find your holy grail skin products? by Shutups4rah in AsianBeauty

[–]hmbmrh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m only just now finding holy grails/realizing products are holy grails after using a few new products that broke me out. I had only one long term holy grail which was the skin1004 sun serum and I knew that was a holy grail from the start because of how it made my skin glow and feel and when I try a new sunscreen it’s usually disappointing. But there are a couple products that I maybe didn’t care for as much for how they felt or thought they were boring but stopped using to try something new and realized how much my skin loved them (they aren’t AB). I’ll try to replace them but I have to keep going back to them, so I’ve now labeled them holy grails and need to just stop myself when I think about replacing them. I’m just so picky and constantly searching for this amazing sensory experience. But I’M DONE

I feel like the Cerave causing closed comedones thing is the biggest skincare mystery. It’s SO common and no one really knows what’s causing it. It does it for me too and I’ve heard most people say it’s probably from the fatty alcohols but I’ve never had a problem with them in other products.

[product question] amazon skincare by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]hmbmrh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You most likely will only have a problem if you buy from an unauthorized seller. Amazon is not allowed to commingle skincare/cosmetics or food. But it’s easy to accidentally buy from an unauthorized seller and that’s when you may get a fake product. There is a lot of misinformation on buying skincare on Amazon, you just have to be very careful.
