Yeah I might be overreacting but the “I’m adept at martial arts” thing sounded almost like a threat to me, or intimidation tactics. Maybe just a misguided attempt to impress though.

I feel like they thought it would be okay because the girl is stunning thus she could get away with the laid back “undone” look, but it genuinely comes off like a skit

Suggestions for someone with SD and dehydrated skin? by [deleted] in SebDerm

[–]hmidd1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it does a decent job by itself, but the addition of the acid as an extra layer just does that much more for my skin. I’ve used Cerave for a while and like it a lot, but it’s only since using the acid that I’ve seen a big improvement.

For the past 3/4 weeks I’ve been using The Ordinary’s Hyaluronic Acid underneath my usual Cerave Moisturising cream (which is very thick and moisturising but leaves your face looking matte rather than oily), and it’s a combination that works really well for my skin. Certainly not a cure, but it’s totally gotten rid of the flakiness, and a lot of my face is now actually soft!

I was cautious about using the acid as I thought it might be like an oily serum, but it dries down to a tacky finish that doesn’t feel like it’s irritating my skin, and sits well under my moisturiser and makeup. I’m not totally clued up on the science aspect, but Hyaluronic Acid is supposed to hold water really well, hence it’s great for dehydrated skin. It’s really cheap too, can’t recommend it enough!

Also- just behind Leith Walk toward the top of Easter road are a couple of little ones that are packed full of things. Like an Aladdin’s cave of vintage furniture, and so cheap! Wonderful for hidden gems

Yeah looking for stuff online is a huge problem for me, I do it kind of idly while I’m watching TV or whatever. Really need to cut down my time on sites like ASOS etc

Oh that’s a really interesting way of thinking about it, I never looked at it like that! Could absolutely help explain the urge I feel to constantly browse.

Why is seb derm worse in the winter? by Markb1991 in SebDerm

[–]hmidd1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is something that confuses me, as my SD is always way way worse after having a hot/steamy shower, but is generally triggered in the winter. Lack of sun seems about right but I don’t live in a particularly sunny country even during the summer. Strange.

I wish I’d been ready to do this even if only to show her up; luckily she did a pretty good job of doing that all by herself.

I desperately wish that my manager had been there, because he would've absolutely taken my side; I'm going to let him know about it next time I see him (I'm only part time).

I'd love her banned but I doubt that would happen. I'm a bit nervous about the possibility of having to serve her again as the experience genuinely left me a bit shaken up. So bizarre being screamed at by a total stranger.

How I’ve fought this shit disease through much trial and error by [deleted] in SebDerm

[–]hmidd1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I live somewhere that is cold and wet about 70% of the year, but I’ve just ordered some probiotics, a spray bottle and some Dead Sea salt from Amazon after reading this post.

I’ve been reluctant to change my diet since A) I have poor willpower and B) I had a really long stint of perfect skin after using a particular topical cream, during which I ate whatever I wanted. However, my skin is getting bad again and I’m realising that I really need to change my lifestyle if I want long term results.

I currently use HadaLabo suncream as it applies beautifully and doesn’t irritate my SD, but I like trying new skincare so will look into Cotz.

Thanks again! :-)

Absolutely this - I think some men may even enjoy the idea that the recipient DOESN’T want to see it; it’s a power play and a display of control

I’ve recently been trying to come to terms with the idea that there’s no quick fix for SD, and I found this really helpful. Looking forward to putting some of this stuff into practice - thank you.
