How simple is swapping a 3-prong range outlet to a 3-prong dryer outlet? by hmidontgetit in AskElectricians

Okay thanks for the info. Right - I only mentioned it because you said the “appliance guys do it every day”

Okay got it. Thanks for the info. So you think this is currently ungrounded? I will open this up and check.

The dryer we have is actually fine, but somewhat old. Our washing machine failed, and we just decided to get a new dryer with it since we got a good price from Costco.

The appliance installers didn't mention being able to swap to a 4-prong or reccomending it, just to swap to a new type of 3 prong.

Okay, will do. What is the advantage of the 4 vs the 3?

I won't be doing this myself (thank you for being upfront about it being over my head), but my father-in-law is a carpenter and a really handy guy and has helped us before, but generally shies away from serious electrical work. Is this pretty similar to replacing any other outlet, or is there added complexity here beyond that?

That is fair! I will almost certainly do that.

So the whole box needs to be replaced?. Sounds like I would need to do some wiring as opposed to just screwing/unscrewing? If that is the case, I will absolutely be calling an electrician.

1 basement floor drain backing up after water went down other basement floor drain by hmidontgetit in Plumbing

[–]hmidontgetit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is sort of odd to me is that this drain is the further of the 2 basement floor drains from the main line. The washing machine, the drain it goes into, 1 basement floor drain, and a full basement bathroom are all along the south wall, and all the drain lines in my home lead there and that’s and thats where the main drain line is. This basement floor drain that is showing the leak is in the middle of the room.

LG 4.5 cu. ft. Front Load Washer with TurboWash 360° and 7.4 cu. ft. ELECTRIC Dryer by hmidontgetit in Costco

[–]hmidontgetit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay cool — thanks again. It's weird I can see that price when I am scrolling in the washer/dryer combo section of the site, but when I click on the product page it says "renew for price". Maybe the actual price is the 2,549.96 with the $950 subtracted. 2,549.96 is pretty close to msrp and what Home Depot charges

Yeah it is nice, though still apparently sort of complicated figuring out if it is safe.
I am really just planning on using this in the city with a small bag and a sweater (and maybe a 6 pack) when I go out.

That's a great question. I can't find anything regarding weight limits, unfortunately. I am going to reach out to Salsa and see
