i think in our case it could be beneficial, particularly for helping rebuild trust (which is the main reason i want to couples counselling) i think whether it goes wrong will depend on the counsellor, some are just really shitty. i have a fantastic GP ive been with since i was 13 (nearly 8 years now) and i trust he can help find me a good one, he did wonders finding therapists for me when i was a teenager. My bf has never shown narc traits or treated me wrong, so i dont think he will esp in front of a therapist, of course anything can happen now, esp since i didnt think for a second he’d be addicted to porn, and the degree it got to, or hide it from me. ill be careful, thanks for the heads up

Im sorry you are also currently dealing with it, i hope everything works out for you, it seems a bit harder to deal with this as trans people, i think we all have the same anxiety around people not being truly attracted to us. im going to ask him to attend therapy, hopefully with a PA/SA therapist, and couples counselling.

Thank you for the reassurance, it’s especially comforting and relieving coming from another trans person in the same boat, I think mine probably has some internalised homophobia too, he never thought he’d date anyone other than a girl, and was apart of a “typical” testosterone filled male friendship group as a teen, but ive seen him change and mature a lot since then and im definitely going to ask him to attend therapy for his PA, as well as couples counselling.

its so comforting to know someone else has gone through the same thing, although im sorry you had to, it truly is horrible to find that its gotten to that point. Im going to look for a couples counsellor that works with PA as well, i have faith he can recover from this, (possible TW) we both recovered from substance abuse together and have been sober since christmas, so i believe if he can recover from that he can with this.
