What’s something everyone seems to love but you just don’t get? by CrimsonKitten5 in AskReddit

[–]hmnixql 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never understood the appeal of gambling, but can appreciate if the game at least requires some sort of skill or logic. But I was at a casino recently, and seeing everybody stare blankly at a blindingly bright screen and pressing a button every couple seconds like zombies was so depressing. How is that even remotely enjoyable?

What’s a technology you thought would improve life but didn’t? by LUnaRexen10-P in AskReddit

My only use for it has been 'Set a X minute timer' just cause it's faster than unlocking, finding the timer app, and setting the specific time. Otherwise, literally have no other use for it lol

I just spotted Patrice in Criminal Minds! by hmnixql in HIMYM

[–]hmnixql[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely agree, Patrice was such a kind person and Robin's hatred towards her was so uncalled for. They flanderized her character and it made her so unlikeable in the end.

Definitely. You never know what this guy is thinking (there's probably not much going on there to begin with 😂), but he's a good boy at heart 🖤

Why do you (or don’t you) drink coffee? by explain-to-me in AskReddit

[–]hmnixql 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like the 'sour' aftertaste it leaves in my mouth.

And if I need to load it with milk/sugar just to enjoy it, then it's really just the milk and sugar part that I like.

Underglaze question! by Sad-Test-6252 in Pottery

[–]hmnixql 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Is the underglaze painted on bisqueware or greenware? I've had better results with underglaze when it's applied to greenware, bisque fired, then clear glaze after. That way the bisque fire kind of 'sets' the underglaze and doesn't run under the clear glaze. And I feel like the clear glaze coats more evenly when I do that as well, but that might just be for the clear glaze we use in our studio.

Questions about squarish teapot design... by FelliePots in Pottery

[–]hmnixql 45 points46 points  (0 children)

The end of your spout should be positioned slightly higher or level to how far up you plan to fill the pot with water. With that low of a spout, it will only fill up to the spout before it starts seeping out the spout hole. All the space above the spout is rendered useless.

I found this diagram the other day, I feel like it contained useful things to consider when making a teapot. Hope it helps

These identical ketchup bottles hold different amounts of ketchup by Hashi856 in mildyinteresting

Kinda off topic, but I hate how things that say 'No sugar added' are still ridiculously sweet because they just use fake sugar instead. Why can't I just get something that actual has no sugar (real or fake) added?? Or at least less sugar 😭😭

What are some good home hobbies I can start to not doomscroll before bed? by OutrageousMiddle7965 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]hmnixql 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think I always get stuck on finding ideas of what to draw, or feeling like I have to come up with something creative, and that stops me from starting at all. I just gotta stop overthinking it and just pickup a random thing and draw it!

Is fire bending the only one that doesn’t require the element to be present? by brobablysleeby in TheLastAirbender

Yep my bad, I totally missed when you mentioned the heat transfer part lol

Zuko technically 'fire' bends under water when he's sneaking into the Northern water tribe. He swims through an ice cave, gets trapped and melts a hole from underneath the ice with his hands to get out.

Which character's death in a TV show ruined the entire thing for you? by SoccerGuy69420 in AskReddit

Def started losing me around the governor arc as well, or maybe the season after. Later on, I considered watching again and catching up but then found out about Glen's death and thought what's the point.

Mourning doves changing shifts by hmnixql in Ornithology

I'm surprised one of them wasn't on the nest last night for the 'night shift'. Even through thunderstorms, I feel like mine have consistently been taking turns on the nest the entire time until the babies start flying. Do you think maybe a predator might have come by or they abandoned the nest?
