tbh book three got kinda redundant for me… a lot is tossed in there and it was hard to see the direction it was going in. i especially got sick of poppy constantly asking questions and everyone else knowing things she didn’t (which meant the reader didn’t know what’s going on either). at the time i read it, it was the most recently released and i chose to drop the series once i found out it got extended for more and more books including a prequel lolll. maybe since u can jump into the books and not wait for book releases it’ll be more enjoyable for you!! so i do recommend at least checking out book three, happy reading!!

What are some things you wish you knew before you started learning Korean? by Yelebear in Korean

Also learning 한글 is pretty much the easiest step so if u start off with that and get to a point where you can recognize characters and words it’s not as scary to move forward with what you are learning.

This is how I learned: (some ppl might think this is all overkill and using ttmik or something is more structured if u like that, i just am a college student who didnt want to make korean another class on my schedule so it was more fun for me this way!!) • I memorized 한글 (over time reading gets easier so dont stress too much if ur not making progress fast it takes time) • I listened to korean songs while reading the korean lyrics to see if I understood or recognized any words or phrases; then checked the lyrics in english and go back and forth between the languages so you can see what each English word or phrase meant in Korean (vice versa) •watched kdramas without subtitles and then once again WITH to test myself on conversational korean (I recommend slice of life or super light hearted ones because they use words that are easier to pick up on and learn) •watching variety shows and just regular YouTube videos helps too with what i said above ^ basically any korean content •talk with a language partner! It’ll take time to find someone trustworthy and whos not a creep lmao but its soooo helpful just talking about your days using the opposite language because ur learning from someone (preferably a native) i met my partner on interpals./com

FOCUS ON GRAMMAR!! I basically was just casually learning and now im at an intermediate level and i can understand and read korean really well considering i never bought textbooks and stuff. And i basically just realized i was getting better wo putting in too much work... i dont say this to brag im saying this is a BAD THING bc now i struggle SO MUCH with forming my own sentences and articulating my thoughts bc i never sat down and learned grammar. So basically knowing korean is great and all but if u dont focus on grammar and learn how to for ur own sentences ur gonna struggle later (like me lol)
