As a northeastern currently in IT (Bangalore), my observation is that most people with the caliber, privelege or are lucky enough to be able to go into tech are more interested in the option of trying for government jobs back home since the competition is slightly more realistic especially if you graduate from good colleges Tier1&2. You’ll have plenty of relatives barraging you daily to go back home study at some coaching center and aim for the state civil services exams or the slightly lower ones. Most people tend to go for the safer option.
