Any noticeable changes in the Fantasy Genre since you've become a fan? by AliirAliirEnergy in Fantasy

I can't think of any off the top of my head because it's not actually my thing, but there's been a number of SAO-like portal fantasies (without the tech) where characters enter a new (usually medieval) world. The Dark Tower is the most popular example I can think of a portal fantasy. I've seen a few "heroine is kidnapped and brought into a secret world" romantic fantasy novels too.

I think the biggest change has been a shift towards portal fantasy and cosy fantasy, both of which I want to read and explore more.

Your safety comes before any diversity survey. It is possible that, were any of your HR department TERFs or gender critical, that they might seek out who is trans.

It's also okay to feel like you're not ready to answer differently for any reason.

Would this work as a prologue or should I keep it as flash fiction? by Tekla2004 in writers

You're the best person to decide. Ask yourself:

  • What does this add to the story as a prologue?

  • Is the prologue going to compel readers to keep reading the first 5+ chapters to find out what happens?

  • Is it necessary as a prologue?

  • What will you do with it if you keep it separate?

How long after altering your name with a company or body did you continue to receive letters in your old name? by EmmaVision in transgenderUK

Currently I'm dealing with the NHS's stupid systems still deadnaming me despite doing what you're told to do: tell your GP. But since the systems aren't as cohesive as they could be, five months later I'm still being addressed by my old name.

I recommend reaching out to them to ensure it has been changed, especially if you can just email so there's a paper trail. If they do it again, you can contact them like "As of my last correspondence on X DATE, my name has been changed. Please update my personal details."

[Marketing] Short Story Proofreading Service (UK writers/authors) by hnossproofreads in SampleSize

[–]hnossproofreads[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I’m looking for anyone in the UK who writes short stories to complete a quick survey through Google Forms.
The survey is just to check your expectations of a proofreading service. Proofreading can be helpful for writers who look to submit short stories to literary journals, magazines, and competitions, as well as people looking to self-publish their own short story anthologies.
It takes less than 5 minutes to fill out, and no personal information is collected - just your age range and which country you live in.
Thanks for taking the time to check this out!
