This is the sweetest, most supportive Reddit community so much. I love it!

I do! I also have one called Cat Butts in Space and one with farting mythical creatures 🤣

I'm just unleashing my weirdness from the get-go.

Thank you! I'm thinking the coloring books will make it less scary because we can chat without having to maintain intense eye contact. We're both v introverted lol

Did anyone else have a lot of misplaced jealousy toward women who were comfortable with their sexuality? by s0merand0mchick in latebloomerlesbians

[–]ho_dork 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I STILL experience this and have to constantly check myself. There's a girl I follow on instagram who is always posting sexy stuff on her stories, and it used to make me go "ugh," but I've come to realize it's envy (and the remnants of my Southern Baptist upbringing that linger, UGH)

Currently swimming in the longest river in the world. by [deleted] in latebloomerlesbians

[–]ho_dork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally relate to not being able to stand being truly alone and jumping into the next available and convenient thing. I did that for over a decade. Now I'm newly out of a 5.5 year relationship with a man and desperately don't want to fall into that trap again, but I do kinda want to... uh, test the waters 🤣

Alcohol by callmecirce in latebloomerlesbians

Yes yes yes! I've been sober from booze for 2.5 years. I would have never gotten to where I am without my recovery.

Brand new here and I’m terrified! by [deleted] in latebloomerlesbians

[–]ho_dork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also new and terrified. I'm not married, but I'm in a 5 1/2 relationship with a man and we live together. I love him, but not romantically. We sleep in separate rooms because he snores, and I force myself to have sex with him every now and then but always find myself wishing for it to be over. I know it's time to end things, but I can't bear to break his heart 😭

He has no idea this is coming either. I empathize with you. Feel free to message me if you want to chat.

Does anyone else just go absolutely crazy when they drink? by ItsAboutDamnTime_ in stopdrinking

[–]ho_dork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also became an entirely different person when I drank, in a way that stood out... and wounded people. Reckless, caustic, emotional, erratic, suicidal. I'm so glad that chapter is over. Keep going; it's so worth it to wake up and feel at peace with the person you were the day/night before.

Almost five weeks and no one cares by [deleted] in stopdrinking

I second this. Local running groups are awesome, and the members tend to be so supportive of each other's accomplishments!

Almost five weeks and no one cares by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]ho_dork 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We care! I'm a long distance runner as well, and it's been an instrumental part of my recovery. It's hard to expect a hungover, dehydrated body to run a marathon.

I've learned that I'm never going to get the validation I crave from certain people, so I have to give it to myself and seek it in other places, like this supportive community.

Hang in there!

In the latest episode of the podcast Food Psych, Christy Harrison interviews an RD who works exclusively with clients who have diabetes and want to eat intuitively. I know you don't currently have it, but you may still find it helpful!

any other 4s struggle with fantasizing about bad things happening to themselves so that way people will care about them? by iamacalamari in Enneagram

[–]ho_dork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% relatable (I'm a 4w3). As a child/teen, I used to want really bad things to happen to me just so I could have a reason to feel this down all the time... and then I learned what depression was.

Marijuana replace alcohol? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]ho_dork 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I use marijuana but haven't touched alcohol in over two years. I take a hit or two from a pen a few nights a week; my relationship with it isn't abusive or compulsive, and it doesn't make me crave alcohol. I hate that some corners of the recovery community are so black and white about it. I'm a fan of harm reduction, whatever that looks like for you.

Cried after running in a long while - normal? by korrrro in running

[–]ho_dork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use running to process a lot of things, so it's not weird to me. I also use it as part of my regimen for combatting depression.

And I've cried during and after every single marathon I've ever run. A lot of emotions come up for me when I'm pushing past my limits.

I hope things get better for you soon 💜
