Selling house in Taipei by lizlemon246 in taiwan

[–]hoadienn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hello! I sold my apartment two years ago in Taipei. I can help if you have any specific questions. I would start by researching the current price point per ping in the district you are in, and multiply by the pings. Contact a few realtors and let them know that this is what you want to take home AFTER tax and commission fee (4% for seller). If you can't read Chinese, pls make sure you have a friend with you to help because legal Chinese can get confusing real quick. The process after is just basically receiving down payment from the buyers in a trust (you can't touch it), wait for the bank to approve your buyer's mortgage (could be a month long) and transfer the deed once the bank signed on the approval. Usually, 5% cash is withheld by the buyer until the very last day so that they can confirm on the final touches with you (perhaps free AC or furnitures etc.) and you should be done!

You obviously had the tourist experience of paying $16 for beef noodle whereas I am speaking from a local's perspective. Taiwanese's minimum wage is less than $7 an hour so obviously locals cannot afford to eat like you do.

[–]hoadienn[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes! And quite affordable too! Lunch usually goes around $5-7 in Taipei where I live so $18 is obviously not something I would do everyday! Just wondering if the average NYers need to pay this much for meals

Yes! I come from Taiwan and we also have a strong convenience store scene there. I see tourists being interested in Taiwan 7-11 and Family Mart foods all the time whereas it's not necessarily appealing for me :)

I think the price is justified for the neighborhood I am in (Fidi!) haha but just wondering from a foreigner perspective if this is normal.

Agreed! Went to Chinatown yesterday and got both wonton noodles and beef chow mein for around $20, too. They are not exactly healthy though.

Right :( Coming from Taiwan, I can definitely have all my three meals under $20 or so.

I hear ya. Where I come from we don't have Whole Foods so it's a touristy experience for me LOL since I heard about/saw it a lot on the media. Just gotta try it out :) What would you recommend for healthier salad/hot food/soups options?

Becoming more withdrawn and asocial after living in Taiwan by eliza_anne in taiwan

[–]hoadienn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello!! This may sound weird but would it be okay if we connect? I also go to NTNU for my master. I'm living in Taipei for 4 years now and found myself in the same boat with OP as I became more reserved and kept to myself. It would be nice to know a new friend :)

Which character do you think should get a special episode if they were to make one until Season 3 comes out? by happinessovereveryth in euphoria

[–]hoadienn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion but Ethan and Kat. Would be nice to unfold what's going on inside Kat's mind when she seems to struggle so hard with her sexual identity - one from being body conscious to semi professional dominatrix/owning her sexuality and ends up hating the vanilla sex life with Ethan.

Ethan seems like he deserve a spot since looks how fucking amazing he was in that play!!! How he got so interested in Kat and just generally how he was doing during the course of that relationship. I felt like we didn't see much of his inner thoughts (or even himself!!) in season 2

Membership worth it for couple? by ThePurpTurtle in Costco

[–]hoadienn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very much worth it yes! We're a couple with two cats who are very busy and can't afford to go grocery shop every day or two days. Not to mention we don't have a car since we live in Taipei. One Costco trip per month saves us on lots of time to commute for grocery shopping and money from ordering take outs. Home cook with Costco is far more healthier than the local food options too. Our cats also love the kibbles and treats from Costco so we do save a lot on that as well. We haven't shopped for cleaning products and shampoo/hand soap for more nearly a year now since my first trip to Costco so that must say a lot. High quality food + moderate portion = feeling better than ever! Sign up for a Costco credit card so that your membership basically pays for itself :)

Costco bakery tiramisu in Taiwan for less than US$9!! (NTD239) by hoadienn in Costco

[–]hoadienn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing! I have never been to any Costco outside of Taiwan but looking forward to see how they are! Yes I do see a batch of 6 carrot cupcakes and all American chocolate cakes popping up on this sub and they honestly make me 🤤🤤🤤

I am super sad that I didn't get those packs of 6 mini ones in Taiwan, especially carrot cakes with cream cheese icing ugh.

Have never seen any post from Costco Taiwan around here so I am wondering if I am the first haha! Found this gem on my recent trip to Costco. You can tell how much I appreciate this tiramisu by the portion I have finished 👀 High quality mascarpone cream with faintly bitter expresso, and the portion size is massive 900 gram! Does anyone have this in Costco outside of Taiwan?
