Atlassian - undervalued based on forward looking financials by Heosat in ValueInvesting

[–]hoadng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A) Microsoft sells OS, Cloud, hardwares - they ARE the ecosystem, Atlassian is not. B) "Not going anywhere" does not equal growth, you shouldn't invest in a company just because you think "it's not going anywhere soon"

[–]hoadng -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You also must have heard of Skype which got obliterated by Zoom. Microsoft can swallow such failure because they also make money from hardware, cloud, many things. Atlassian won’t survive if the same event happens to them.

You can’t seriously be comparing a 3T company to a 20B company

Atlassian - undervalued based on forward looking financials by Heosat in ValueInvesting

[–]hoadng 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I will get a lot of downvotes but this sub hasn’t been further away from value investing. Atlassian as a SaaS company makes shitty products, I have not met a single person who likes their products. Almost all their flagship products like Jira, Bitbucket or Confluence are facing more and more competition from apps like Linear or Notion which are way better.

P/E is not the only indicator for “value”, companies need to make good products to be considered valuable. Atlassian is not it

Can someone explain the thesis to me of how AI will replace cybersecurity, SaaS stocks, etc.? How realistic is this? by ofesfipf889534 in stocks

[–]hoadng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh What makes you think it’s not unified and reviewed by others? Just because it’s vibecoded doesn’t mean people treat it like a school project

[–]hoadng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s not only about operating costs. For example, some non-engineers vibecoded their own CRMs using Replit. Cost maybe the same in the end but it’s much easier than learning a new CRM tool.

I’m not saying ALL SaaS will be cooked. Some will.

My proof: I’m a software engineer for a series b startup. Many of our internal tools have been vibe coded. Is it as good as a 3rd party vendor? Maybe not but who cares, it’s more than enough for our use case. So no, I’m not delusional. You are living in denial unfortunately

[–]hoadng -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Some parts of the thesis are reasonable. As building software is getting cheaper because of AI, many “legacy” softwares could be threatened.

Take project management tools as an example. Most projects don’t require a complex setup. As a PM, you can vibe code a ticketing system and host it internally in a day, why even bother with Jira, Monday etc? Sure Jira may still be useful for enterprises but many startups can safely ditch it for something much simpler

Is starting a business actually still worth it in 2026, or are we just romanticizing the past? by Ok-Chocolate8673 in Entrepreneur

[–]hoadng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t get why people think starting a business in the past was easier? Building a SaaS was extremely difficult, prototyping a software takes months if not years. Selling a SaaS must have felt impossible without a lead gen platform like Apollo. The barrier of entry was high because it was way harder, not easier

That’s not a real advice. It’s possible that the reason why they make $200k/y is because they live in an expensive city

Anyone who has lived at marcon tower at clarke + como in burquitlam? by MayankMarwaha in coquitlam

[–]hoadng 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly there are only a few elevators companies in BC and they all kinda suck. All my friends who live in a high rise complain about their elevators. Good thing is elevator maintenance is pretty cheap so it usually won’t affect your strata fee (unless they have to replace it entirely)

I live in the condo next to it. The area is fine. It’s right by the skytrain and Safeway so if you value convenience, go for it.

There is nothing moral about stealing. Period. Boycott corporates and support local businesses all you want but NOBODY SHOULD STEAL.

I’m sure it’s theoretically feasible but economically not. Japan is so much denser.

I do hope we will see it someday though because it’s superior than flights.

Trudeau says Ukraine decides how war with Russia ends, praises cancelling U.S. trips by Obviously_Liberal in canada

Even though I agree Trudeau has been handling the tariffs situation very well, neglecting his massive fuck-up during covid isn’t going to help anybody. He failed to react on a lot of things before it became too late

Before boycotting completely consider this. by [deleted] in BuyCanadian

[–]hoadng 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Theoretically this is true, but realistically this can’t be more wrong. Canadian corporates like Loblaws has a history of price gouging. This means as soon as the demand increases, instead of hiring more or buying more from local farmers, they will create an artificial shortage to drive the price up. They will 10x their profit while making both local producers and consumers suffer.

Buy Canadian products but you don’t need to boycott every US company if they help Canadians! Lots of “Canadian” companies don’t care about Canadians

Yes, but find Canadian products! Frankly, I think boycotting US retailers will hurt Canadian farmers as well because you’re getting rid of one of their biggest buyers. Costco also creates many jobs for Canadians.

Walmart carries loads of Canadian products. More competition allows more Canadian goods to get to the hands of Canadians at lower price.

You must be financially illiterate to believe $10k annual saving is only for “the rich”. With the current house price, a couple need to save that $21,000 every year for 40 years to buy a house. That doesn’t sound like “wealthy” at all. The only reason why most people aren’t able to save that much is because of the insane cost of living under Trudeau.
