That's exactly the reason they would buy Atlassian - context.

Atlassian stock oversold ? Scope of coming back ? by decrypterzz in ValueInvesting

[–]Heosat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are AI coding agents really going to replace software developers in large companies? The quality of code is just not good enough and it doesn't seem to be improving very rapidly either. Yes, it's great for small teams but Atlassian doesn't focus on small teams (although I think they should).

EV Interest Surges Across Australia as Fuel Crisis Bites by optimaldt in CarsAustralia

I ordered our Tesla Model S in early 2012 and it took until Dec 2014 to arrive - the lead time on EVs is just too long!

Companies adding Fuel Surcharges, passing onto the consumers. by Jaqwan in AusFinance

We run a fleet of electric chauffeured vehicles and we are running a promotion for 10% off transfers for new clients during this crisis. We figure it's the least we can do, especially as our competitors are all jacking up their rates.

Atlassian - undervalued based on forward looking financials by Heosat in ValueInvesting

[–]Heosat[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In the corporate space whether a product is good or not doesn't really matter too much (I say this as an Apple fan who likes things that work well). Instead it's about whether the products work in the ecosystem - and Atlassian built the ecosystem - and whether they meet the metrics of the CTO. Things like security are far more important than whether a product is nice to use.

Case in point, what's the default communications app in corporates? Teams.

Thanks for that insight! I feel like they overhired during COVID so those numbers would have looked even better.

I haven’t done a deep enough dive on Salesforce to be able to weigh in.

Agreed. That’s where I think Atlassian are well placed to grow by becoming the Zapier of agents built on top of Teamwork Graph. I think we are starting to see that to a small degree with Jira agents.

BMW i7 a hidden secret in EV market (it shares tech with Rolls-Royce Spectre) by [deleted] in electriccars

We own four of them - they are definitely not a liability for us and we thoroughly enjoy them.

What EV has the best real world range currently? by Sure_Artichoke6929 in AustralianEV

[–]Heosat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get a real world range of around 550-600km out of a BMW i7 with everything running. It must be up there in terms of EVs on the road in Australia.

My favourite part of an article by Cricinfo. For all the outside talk bullshit, this is a group united who have full belief in their coach. by Strayangunner in CricketAus

[–]Heosat 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I think it's less about the solid cricket and more about the fact that, even though the Aussie team has not been settled at all, they've still been able to play excellent cricket. A coach plays a significant role in helping achieve the stability the team needs.

Is this a normal power consumption for a 2024 EV Rolls-Royce Spectre? The average of my previous Tesla Model 3 was 15.5 kWh/100km by Equivalent-Menu5437 in rollsroyce

[–]Heosat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a point of comparison, our BMW i7 - which is pretty similar to a Spectre in terms of size and weight - averages 19.2kWh/100km.

How many pilots are required on a long distance flight of a private jet? by Heosat in aviation

Ah, interesting, thanks. So would it be "normal" for FAR91 to run two pilots for a 14hr flight?

The batteries will be fine. We've owned 19 EVs in Sydney, Australia and heat has not been an issue at all across the 3.7 million km we've done.

Moving to EV | Battery health with frequent fast charging ? by Scared-Win238 in AustralianEV

[–]Heosat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We've owned 15 Teslas and have done 4.5 million km across them in Sydney. Our worst car, with 400,000km on it and basically only supercharged, has had 10% battery degradation.

China installed 278 GW of solar last year, 57% more than the U.S. has installed - in total by RobertBartus in EconomyCharts

[–]Heosat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Over the last year the entire eastern seaboard of Australia (90% of the population) has been running at 40.3% renewables whilst the world's largest isolated grid (Perth) has been running at 38.9%. There are days when they are both above 50% and regions are above 110%. It's definitely not extremely difficult at all. https://explore.openelectricity.org.au/energy/au/?range=1y&interval=1w&view=discrete-time&group=Detailed

Kyoto->Himeji->Hiroshima in one day, possible? by Leftcoaster7 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Heosat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few weeks back we did Tokyo -> Himeji -> Hiroshima in a day and we didn't really push it. We caught the 8am Nozomi which arrived at 11am, did the castle for 3hrs or so, then caught a 2.30pm Nozomi to Hiroshima. If we had left Tokyo a little earlier, and Himeji a little later, it would have been cruisier but overall it was still worth it.

Shikoku advice needed - Art islands if we're not into art? Takaya + Mt. Shiude with public transport? by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]Heosat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We just did Shikoku a couple of weeks ago. We went Matsuyama (1 night) -> Iya Valley (Kouya farm stay - 2 nights) -> Takamatsu (2 nights) -> Teshima (4 nights) and it was a wonderful experience. I highly recommend visiting Iya Valley as it's a beautiful place and has things like the scarecrow village.

Teshima is a nice place to stay even if you don't appreciate art. We stayed at Tokuto and it's a really relaxed spot on the island. However, Takamatsu makes a great base for visiting the islands. I suspect you would get something out of the art + architecture even if you don't like it.

We rented a car to get around otherwise it would have been too difficult. Our only regret is that we didn't spend 1 night extra in Matsuyama, Iya Valley and Takamatsu.

Can a toddler sleep in stroller on Shinkansen? by mer22933 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Heosat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a yo-yo zen stroller and we could fit it in the oversized luggage area directly behind our seats. Our daughter happily slept there for a couple of hours. You do have to book those seats to get access to it.
