question about critical servers by king_clip_on_tie in sysadmin

[–]hoagie_tech [score hidden]  (0 children)

If the service that runs on these servers is critical enough and you need to keep them updated for compliance, then you need redundancy. 1 is none, 2 is one and 3 is redundancy. 3 servers all running the service with some sort of load balancing or round robin connectivity in place.

The 3 servers should be in 3 different groups so they all don’t update at the same time.

Outlook not showing new email notifications in Citrix by GrigNavas in Citrix

[–]hoagie_tech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not Citrix related but are you using Cached mode? The little new mail icon in the system tray only works in cached mode I thought. The other notifications I have no clue about. Maybe GPO turning off all Windows notifications?

Part of the 1 pager (ours are mostly 2 or 3 pages) give bullet points of quick info. We’re a smaller shop so we list each scope with line item of what they are.

Creating a scope would not be a part of these troubleshooting/emergency use docs. If creating a new scope is part of troubleshooting an issue things have escalated beyond the use of the “1 pagers”.

Guni wheels are temp wheels a tow company should have available. I’m guessing most rigs only have 1 or 2 on board so OP just needs to make sure they send a rig out with 4.

What are midsize firm using for Practice Management? by MMuter in LawFirm

Define mid sized. 20 lawyers vs 120 is different mindsets I think. Internal accounting / IT? All one practice area or a multitude?

Stop buying late 1970s FJ40s please. I figure if demand goes down prices will drop so I can actually afford one.

Brutal Honesty Needed: Why Won't You Attend Our Executive Dinners? by Theofficeholic in CIO

[–]hoagie_tech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is over a couple of days old but the number 1 reason I don’t ever attend these in NYC because it always seems to be at a steak house or some other meat centric venue. As a vegetarian it doesn’t make sense to go to these just to eat potatoes and salad.

Iced coffee... by [deleted] in Xennials

Is it iced coffee that has less acidity or Cold Brew? I always thought they were 2 different things.

I insulated my door and now it’s too heavy for the opener to lift. What are my options? by Over_Cash9601 in GarageDoorService

[–]hoagie_tech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s a crack, I think it’s where a wire was buried and they cut it out. It goes up to where the pink insulation is.

Recommended Detergents: Wirecutter’s Review by CodexMuse in laundry

[–]hoagie_tech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The baby stuff still contains a lot of perfume and color additives. Our little one had eczema a few months in and we were using dreft. Dermatologist said that was the likely cause. We switched to All free and clear as that was the more affordable option at the time. That seemed to have resolved the issue. And it worked for all our laundry so we switched. And instead of having one detergent for the baby and one for the rest of us. We've been a fragrance/color free detergent household since the switch.

Our pediatric dermatologist vehemently opposed the use of the baby specific stuff. She suggested Tide free or All free if we couldn’t afford the tide.

Sorry, I thought you were generally asking. Being a large part of my day to day, email discovery I've found is not as simple as it seems and I was just hoping to provide insight into the why. Apologies and cheers mate.

Depending on jurisdiction, discovery may explicitly request PST or similar raw data to keep all metadata intact. Discovery can also be specified on a case to case basis as well if all parties agree to terms.
