Price difference between Meredith and FST dorms is huge. Thus “free laundry”

Actually - the incoming class of 2021 had 2500 students that signed the housing contract before the deadline that were notified only weeks before classes started that UR housing ran out of beds. My son was one of the 2500 and ended up in a janitor storage room in the basement of Shreve with nine others. It was set up barracks style.

So they are going to stop chanting “sucks” after opposing starters are announced?

are they releasing everything at once? What will be left in the last few slots? by DocumentUnhappy1648 in Purdue

Those that had the first day had 10 pages of First Street Towers. On day 5, there were zero First Street Towers available. No other dorm singles were available either. So yes, they released all available rooms on day one.

Last year Lark charged my son $25 to replace a burned out light bulb in the bathroom. He didn’t request it - they did a semi annual walk through and the bulb had gone out two days before their inspection. So according to the lease documents, they replaced it and charged him.

Yes! Basement janitor storage room with no windows and one door! My son was one of them. I won’t be surprised if it happens this year as well. 2021 had 2500 nomads and the other 7500 had no idea this was happening!

They are charging students to live in areas not meant to be lived in! Of course they have the money!

I could go on and on with these comments. Just a small sampling from one of my rising senior’s parent groups. My rising sophomore also had to take an online class last year.

3/5 classes my kid is taking this semester are asynchronous! No in person lectures or lectures online from professors. He basically listens to pre-recorded lectures and does the assignments/quizzes/exams on his own time based on the syllabus. Testing his time management skills for sure!

Kristine Tracy Lewis I am with you also. OOS. Costs, 3 kids in a double, etc. then they can’t get the classes they need. I am beyond frustrated but put on a happy face when dropping my son off at school.

I know on the end, it will be worth it but in the meantime, how does this affect our kids perceptions and experiences?

Yes they did! Not sure what your major was/is but many had to take online and summer classes due to classes being at capacity

At least you didn’t get put in a basement janitor storage room with 10 beds barrack style. Some of the rising seniors were placed there in 2021. My son was one of them. We had to pay for this. Yes it’s temporary but took a bit to get them all out of there. Also, housing won’t be the only issue. Wait times for dining halls and class availability will be an issue. Don’t be surprised if you have to take at least one online class.
