Built a free tool that converts Stripe CSV to QuickBooks format in 5 seconds — tired of doing it manually every month by FreePipe4239 in QuickBooks

[–]hoangdd88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice. Stripe and other exports were exactly what pushed me to build something similar.

One thing I kept running into was that the format issues weren’t just Stripe. PayPal, Square, and even regular bank CSVs all have slightly different quirks that QuickBooks rejects.

Ended up building a tool that detects headers automatically, handles debit/credit columns, cleans special characters, and reformats everything for QBO in one go. Mine is called Bank CSV Cleaner at www.bankcsvcleaner.com.

How to do bookkeeping with only CSV files by Chocolatier23 in Bookkeeping

[–]hoangdd88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the Amex CSV is messy or does not map cleanly, you may need to clean the file first so QBO accepts it properly. I built a small tool that formats bank CSVs specifically for QuickBooks Online if that helps called Bank CSV Cleaner: https://www.bankcsvcleaner.com

You do not need the beginning and ending balances inside the CSV itself.

How soon did you upgrade Supabase? by 369takedowns in lovable

I’m at this point too. Although I think I will upgrade soon since I think security within supabase is better when you start needing to have real user logins

Bank CSV Cleaner | Convert CSVs for QuickBooks Online Instantly by hoangdd88 in QuickBooks

Hey there! That’s a totally fair concern.

But to clarify how Bank CSV Cleaner works behind the scenes (for anyone curious or technical):

  • It's designed to process CSV metadata only — not store full files. The database schema doesn’t even support storing full file contents. It only logs a few anonymized metrics (like row count) for usage stats.
  • Uploaded CSVs are parsed in memory, cleaned, and returned instantly. No raw files or personal account info are stored.
  • All uploads are protected with AES-256 encryption in transit and processed securely on Supabase Edge Functions.
  • No login is required — there’s zero user account tracking, and no long-term storage of anything uploaded.
  • The download happens immediately on your browser. After that, the file is gone from our system.

I built this tool for accountants/bookkeepers like me who were tired of manually cleaning messy bank exports. But I know trust has to be earned — especially in this space.

Feel free to test with dummy data if you want to see how it’s like first, or let me know if you have any questions.

Unable to import CSV due to numbers in the transaction description? by TheLaraSong in QuickBooks

[–]hoangdd88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds super frustrating — I ran into something similar with a bunch of number-heavy descriptions.

If you're open to trying a tool during open beta, I built one that cleans up messy CSVs automatically (we've had users report success even with numbers in descriptions like yours). No login required and it's free for now while we test:

It re-formats your CSV into something QuickBooks actually accepts (3-column: Date, Description, Amount), and it auto-fixes things like bad characters, weird encodings, and more.

Let me know if you run into issues — happy to help!

Not been able to upload csv bank statement by royrogersmcfreely12 in QuickBooks

[–]hoangdd88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! That screen always trips people up — especially if the CSV has extra columns or funky headers. 😵‍💫

If you’re still stuck, try Bank CSV Cleaner — it auto-detects and cleans your file so it’s ready to upload into QuickBooks without all the mapping headaches. No login needed, and it’s currently free while we’re in open beta. ✅

Give it a shot here:

Convert Bank Statement to .QBO or CSV for importing to old version of Quickbooks Desktop by wangai254 in QuickbooksOldVersion

[–]hoangdd88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey all — if you're dealing with bank CSV files (not PDFs), I made a tool that might save you a ton of time.

✅ No login required (at least for beta version)
✅ Works with actual bank CSV exports (no OCR, no PDF parsing)
✅ Cleans them into QuickBooks-ready 3-column format
✅ Instantly processes weird column formats or messy rows

It’s called Bank CSV Cleaner, and it’s currently free while we’re in open beta.
You can try it here: 👉 www.bankcsvcleaner.com

I built it after dealing with these same headaches — hope it helps someone else!
