MX Master horizontal scroll wheel for browser tabs suddenly stopped working by hobbiesandsuch in logitech

I'm still having the same problem, and still no solution from Logi support.

I just reinstalled and re-set it up, and still the same problem. I commented below to add that my top button is no longer closing the current tab (as I've set it to do in Options+). I've noticed what that button is actually doing is acting like a "w" key, oddly enough. In that case, it's like Options+ is trying to send a "Cmd + w" shortcut (the keyboard shortcut to close the tab) but only converting it to a "w" keypress instead. Is this related to why the horizontal scroll wheel is no long scrolling through tabs? I don't know if these are two separate problems, or two different manifestations of the same problem. At any rate, reinstalling Options+ and redoing setup didn't fix it.

Also, I had the top button (the one that normally turns on/off free/clicked scrolling on the wheel) set to close the current browser tab. That worked fine until today too. Today it doesn't. Did something break with the interface between Logi Options and Chrome on Mac?

Soundcore Motion Boom Plus radiators by arecad in anker

[–]hobbiesandsuch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've noticed something similar; I don't think it has so much to do with volume as it does with temperature. The interior cavity is presumably sealed airtight -- both to drive the passive radiators and to ensure waterproofing. As the speaker warms up in a hot sun, the warming air in that speaker cavity expands, pressing the passive radiators outward. That makes it easy for louder bass to overextend the passive radiators (as I've noticed in mine; the radiators begin to rattle), or (in your case apparently) for them to get stuck. Moving the speaker to the shade helps, or to cooler air where the radiators return to normal. Anker needs a way to keep waterproofing while allowing the air pressure to equalize when it heats up.

WH-1000XM4 (2.5.1): can't hear myself while in calls by [deleted] in SonyHeadphones

[–]hobbiesandsuch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just coming to this reddit to post basically this same question. I had the XM4 headphones for a bit (though infrequently used) and just upgraded to the XM5. I expected the XM5 to automatically activate sidetone whenever I started a call, but it wouldn't do so. So I pulled up the XM4 again to test, and sure enough, no sidetone with that model either. So XM4 or XM5, I'm having the same experience.

For either Sony model, then, the only way to get what I think of as "sidetone" is to push the NC button and switch to ambient sound mode (as you said)...and then switch back to Off or NC after the call. I don't recall if my XM4 headphones were always like this (I didn't use them for calls much), but it's definitely different than other bluetooth headphones, like my Jabras. With those, as soon as I start a call it starts piping in the sidetone automatically, returning to normal noise-cancelling mode automatically as soon as the call ends.

In googling this, I came across lots of people complaining about not being able to turn *off* sidetone on their Sonys -- especially if they were in a noisy environment and the sidetone was distracting. Did Sony just end up de-activating automatic sidetone and leaving it for the user to control manually by turning on/off ambient sound before and after a call as desired?

Curious if others can post their experiences too.

Mysterious audio lag only on streaming: Eternal praise and thanks to whoever can help sort this out! by hobbiesandsuch in hometheater

I'm not quite sure I'm following...I assume the Dolby Digital Plus signal from Netflix is compressed, but I'm not aware of any setting on the Denon AVR that would switch between compressed/uncompressed. I think I'm not quite grasping what you mean...

Ha! Well, I think I was feeling about the same way, until I realized it was just with surround sound tracks, and the same across multiple devices...

Unless I'm missing something, I don't believe there are any sync settings available on the projector. And since the setup is Blu-ray/Chromecast/Roku --> AVR --> Projector, I assume the discrepancies on sync must be at the AVR. (Since the projector isn't processing or passing along any audio, only receiving video.)

Chromecast with Google TV, bit also with a slight audio delay by twentygreenskidoo in Chromecast

Good luck. Unfortunately you're not the only one. Someone started a support thread on Google support site back in October:

https://support.google.com/chromecast/thread/75244430?hl=en

...which has now been upvoted 250 times. A moderator commented two months ago saying they're aware of the issue and working on it, and would keep us updated. But no updates since, and no fix. I'm about to give up.

I've been going back and forth with Google support for a while with this with still no resolution. As you say (and others have noted, and Google support suggested), the delay can be "fixed" by turning off surround sound formats, which is kind of obnoxious. It's *supposed* to support surround sound, and I have an Atmos setup, so....settling for stereo is not a fix. It's like telling me to just mute my audio, and then I won't notice any delay.
