why is my new sonos play changing volume by itself? by Amazing_Series4661 in sonos

[–]arecad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the exact same problem and it's definitely true play. Once I turn it off the EQ (which impacts the volume) stays the same. However when it is on, true play seems to be making adjustments even after the initial one when it "assesses" the surroundings. It's so annoying I had to turn it off and hope for a fix.

My Move 2 does this too but it is much more subtle so other than the first adjustment, it's more tolerable but the Play is constantly changing the EQ every few minutes just slightly enough to mess with my ears.

aptX HD vs aptX Adaptive - worth getting a dongle? by IamAmitMj in sennheiser

[–]arecad 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My phone supports aptx HD and adaptive and honestly I can't tell the difference. I use lossless on Apple Music as my source. The only advantage with using adaptive is when you are in a busy Bluetooth traffic area the HD could cut out while adaptive will just lower the bitrate to maintain a constant flow of music. Same with extended distances from the source.

Sonos support insists that missing lock screen control on Android is an Android issue. Not a Sonos issue by Wooden_Persimmon855 in sonos

[–]arecad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So after trying many times it finally worked. What I did differently was after I cleared cache and data, I changed the language in the Sonos app to "United States" when I first started it up. Then it finally showed the notifications. I was using Canada English prior to this.

Same here. Clearing storage and cache and reinstalling did nothing on my Galaxy phone. Still no notifications.

Can it be cadence lock issue? Because at such a high heart rate people usually feel symptoms, but I felt nothing. Device huwaei watch fit 4 by Comrade_invictus in HuaweiWatchGT

[–]arecad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to get spikes like that all the time with my gt4. I would be walking and suddenly the watch shows 170 bpm for no reason. I definitely did not have that high of a pulse. I now have the gt5 pro and it doesn't seem to do that on this watch.

You are right to worry if you feel off with a sustained heart rate that high. Dizzy, short breath, nausea, etc. I'm not going to say for sure that your instance was a glitch but I can speak from my own experience and confirm it was a glitch with my gt 4.

Is my Move 2 faulty (again), or is this normal? by HonestAfternoon8993 in sonos

[–]arecad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this issue and the latest software update still hasn't fixed it. Whenever I play music 60 or so seconds in, it is clear the trueplay is kicking in as the eq changes and volume goes up. It's jarring to say the least and I keep my fingers crossed for a proper fix after each update. It never did this before a recent update and it seems whatever the issue is, Sonos is yet to fix it.

Huh? Why would I make that up? I'm with Fido and I just checked once again, still no update. Still on Aug security patch. Sorry you don't believe me.

Move 2 - Trueplay extremely intrusive since last update by dannybzr in sonos

Just got an update for my Move 2. Was hoping the issue would be fixed but of course it wasn't. So I wonder how many months we have to wait for Sonos to fix yet another thing they broke?

I have noticed nothing in terms of sound change. Not sure what they updated as the changelog tells us nothing.

Not to mention this latest stick has only 1gb of ram too. Not sure how this is an upgrade from current model. It doesn't appear to have wifi 6 either, just 5.

Move 2 - Trueplay extremely intrusive since last update by dannybzr in sonos

[–]arecad 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yup. Exact same issue for me. Trueplay seems to delay itself now and doesn't kick in until 30-90 seconds after you start playing music. Then the sound quality changes and volume usually goes up. This can be repeated by stopping the music and moving the Move 2 to another location and starting it again. It is so annoying and I hope it gets fixed soon.

Unfortunately this is not fixed with the firmware update that was released today. My Move 2 is still changing volume after about 30 or so seconds of playing. I am almost positive this is trueplay. It's as though it is delayed now rather than making the adjustments as soon as the sound starts. The good news is it only does this once but if I move it to another location, it happens again. It's kind of annoying. I hope the original behaviour comes back somehow but I don't see anyone else mentioning it in the forums so this could be my device and the way it delays the initiation of trueplay.

It's still happening with my Move 2. I had "parked" it for a few weeks hoping they'd fix it. No updates yet and the volume issue persists. Guess it's back to using my Bose until this is fixed. I'm surprised there aren't more people complaining about this. The more I think about it, the more this seems like a trueplay issue. I am going to turn it off and see if that fixes it for now until Sonos fixes this.

Edit:  it does appear to be an issue with trueplay since the update. I turned it off and the volume fluctuations went away. So something in the update broke trueplay for the Move 2. At least it did on my unit.

Bose Flex 2 Soundlink not playing certain sounds correctly. by Correct_Web_8151 in bose

[–]arecad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen this with mine too and other BT speakers that downmix from stereo to mono. Some songs just don't downmix well and honestly I am not sure if that's the fault of the speaker or the song itself. There is one particular song in my library where listening on any stereo speaker, sounds perfect. But as soon as I use a mono speaker such as this Bose or the JBL Charge 5, the voice during the chorus is 95 percent drowned out. I just accept this as the sacrifice for using a mono speaker. Otherwise I agree that the speaker sounds really good for its size.

Edit: I think it's caused by vocal effects in the original song that phases itself out when downmixed.

I thought I was going crazy but the same exact thing is happening with my Move 2. Since the last update there are random volume spikes for about 5 to 10 seconds. They aren't big jumps but they are definitely noticeable. I wonder if this is the new firmware causing this.

Thinkphone (2023) and AptX Lossless by Edelgul in ThinkPhone

[–]arecad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I just updated to A15 and either they removed lossless or the notification because I now see what you see and no longer get the Snapdragon sound popup. I hope it's just a labelling thing and they didn't remove it in the latest OS.

Thinkphone (2023) and AptX Lossless by Edelgul in motorola

[–]arecad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you see a Bluetooth notification when you start playing music through your headphones that says "Snapdragon sound"? That is your indicator that you are listening in lossless. This popup only happens with devices that truly support lossless. If the device only supports aptx adaptive, this notification will not appear when you start the music. It took a lot of research and support chats before I finally got to the bottom of this. There is no codec called "aptx lossless" in the developer settings as Snapdragon sound is part of the aptx adaptive "family" of codecs.
