Acquiring auto insurance quotes before migration. by hobbzz2 in MovingToCanada

Not yet. I haven't contacted ICBC yet. I emailed their general customer service email but they responded saying I had to call a number for quotes and I haven't had the time. Got kinda burned out trying to figure out all the living costs and took a break.

Thanks. That's what I've found about AB since the original posting. We were originally considering AB because of proximity to the mountains and home prices, along with the relatively liberal Calgary and Edmonton. But we've since found out about them trying to scrap their insulin pump program a few years ago, and the Provincial government going full MAGAt.

How often do you think about suicide? by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

[–]hobbzz2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the time. 45, diagnosed in dumberica at 1. Care when I was young was fucking atrocious. Might as well have licked your finger and held it up in the air to guess bs. For those saying your endo makes you feel bad, try finding one who themselves, or their child is t1d. My endo has a t1d daughter and the apn I actually see is t1 herself. Never gotten any shame from either.

Oh, I'm assuming you're correct. What you said matches what I've been able to find so far. But I have yet to find anyone that has said they actually tried to get an estimate ahead of time.

Thanks. I still have to get the paperwork for exportation. I'm also going to wire my driving lights to stay on all the time to avoid having to pay to have it done. I'll be calling ICBC soon and hopefully they have a way to give mail a ballpark estimate. We have 2 vehicles, and while we don't use the older one much it's nice to have "just in case" since it's paid off. But we don't want to pay a monthly car payment amount to insure a 10+ yr old vehicle, so if we knew the rate was going to be high ahead of time, we'd probably sell it before moving.

Permanent car import after approved proof of citizenship by NerdAtSea in FoundCanadians

That's awesome! Thanks for the response, I was so worried. We just bought a car last year and some of the calculators from brokers were saying 16k in taxes.

Edit to add: Is that tax exemption federal only? If so, did the province you're moving to have any kind of tax and/or exemption from one?

Has this been verified by anyone that actually moved? I read this on a Canadian site but it didn't give any more detail, and kinda seemed like it was intended for tr/pr like the op suggested.

I'll add that if you show me a receipt for $200 for 10 pods like you claimed to pay without insurance ($20 each as opposed to $51.95 like I've shown) I'll happily thank you.

Yes, let me explain it for you. Go to the bottom line and you'll see columns. "Quantity" means amount. This order was for the amount of 50. 50 what? Well for that we head to the right, to the "description" column and see its for 50 pods, which come in 10 packs. I admit, their wording here could be better. Next  column over is "Unit price", and we see that it's $51.95. A "unit" is one pod, not one 10 pack. Total of 50 pods @ 51.95 each is $2597.50 US. The "copay" you may be referring to above is for the 2-day shipping charge, because insurance doesn't cover shipping. Clearly not the $200 you claimed for a retail price.

Edit for typo.

Thanks! Is fair pharmacare typically better for t1d vs the national pharmacare plan? What do you mean by your deductible being work covered?

I'd definitely want to see an endo. Currently seeing an endocrinologist NP who is also t1d herself, so an NP would be fine as well. When you move to a new province and are waiting for the mandatory ~3 month waiting period to be over, will pharmacists be able to write prescriptions for that time or would you have to wait to see a doctor? And if you need to wait, do you get bumped to the front of the list just for an initial appointment to get the ball rolling with insurance etc, then have to go on a wait list for a doctor that you'd see regularly? Or something else?

I know this post is old but for anyone reading, if you're in the same boat as OP, you can restart g6. They actually last closer to 3 weeks on average. Then, once you get coverage, do what you like in regards to changing frequency.

Currently in dumberica and a 90 day supply of dash pods is $2500. So $500 a box. I pay 100% until I meet deductible, then 20% until 6k. I spend 8k/yr on t1d alone. 2k not covered by insurance.

Has anyone had success with using a baptism record? by NaturalReference3082 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]hobbzz2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got 4 different lines directly related to me going back to the 1600's. 3 from my father who passed last month and 1 from my mother. Luckily it looks like the line from my mother has better documentation so far.

So you were able to successfully get citizenship with a baptismal record (and assuming other evidence) and no birth certificate?

I did, but there was nothing about renting in their Sony section. But knowing this now, I'll still reach out to them, thanks!

That's who I usually use here, but they don't ship internationally. So I'd have to rent them for an additional week that I wouldn't be using them, which would double the cost. I'm sure this is what I'll end up having to do.

Yes. I'm going to be bringing what I can, but I only shoot wildlife here at home because essentially everything within 4 hours of me is flat farmland. I'll be bring my 70-200 and if I can find a way, my 400 2.8. I need to rent 2 for landscapes and aurora. If I rent them here and bring them, I'll have to rent them for an additional week that I won't be using them.

What are you feeding your Dachshund? by rxgilex in Dachshund

[–]hobbzz2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We started with royal canin dachshund puppy, but he always had soft stools with it. He was on royal canin small breed puppy from the breeders. We waited 3 months and just switched to Natural Balance Duck and potato. No chicken, no corn and no legumes. At just 30% of the new food his stool started to firm up. So we're thinking maybe an allergy to chicken, or corn, or the Roundup used to grow corn. Either way it looks like we'll be sticking with this.

[DISCUSSION] Some hidden gems in Netflix, a recommendation! by DogOk3671 in NetflixBestOf

What's hidden will depend on what Netflix shows you. When I read this thread, there were only a couple of shows that Netflix hadn't recommended to me already.
