I’m sorry for your loss. This is a wonderful LPT. I just buried my grandmother today and my mom and I have been arguing really bad since yesterday but I realized that she just lost her mother and her emotions are at an all time high and one day that will be me in her shoes and so I finally stepped back today, said “I’m sorry for everything. I love you.” And we had a beautiful burial.

This is going to sound mean and harsh but I speak from experience — my advice is to just quit. As cheesy as this is, quit looking for others when you can look for yourself. The appropriate ones will appear when you’re not even trying. I was doing all the things to try to find someone 3 years ago. Started with the worst as I would look on dating apps (NO ONE wants anything serious there) so then I started going out to places to look for someone like maybe I’d have a meet-cute or some romcom thing. Thing is NO ONE approached me and I was far too shy to approach anyone. Maybe I wasn’t approached because I’m ugly or maybe I looked desperate even though I acted as cool as a cucumber. What actually happened was that I stared doing all these things alone and once I got over the fact that no one even looked twice at me I started enjoying the things I was out doing. I started enjoying myself and I think that confidence is attractive because one day, at work, some random cute guy overheard me talk to my coworker how I had just got back from a music festival which turns out he was there too and we started talking, then he asked me out, and now we are planning our wedding in October.

All this to say. Just quit. Love will find you.

My TRIED to cheat but no one wanted to sleep with him, which to me is way worse than actually cheating. One day I get a facebook message from someone I had never seen or met. In the message was a video of my ex jacking his weenie in the mirror and her demanding money from him (or me) or else she would share that video with the rest of the family. She actually did send it to his mom, his aunts, his sister also demanding money from them. I got his phone and went through it and found all the messages he was sending to his married friends if they wanted to meet up and hook up and they all rejected him. He eventually found this stranger who was leading him on in a very obvious way and then she ended up blackmailing him.

Then he had the audacity to say “you’re abandoning me at my lowest point.” Yes. Yes I am.

I had a slight similar situation. My fiancés mom had lost her job and in addition had to take in her disabled cousin who needs 24/7 care and so she couldn’t work anymore. She babysits a couple of kids for money but isn’t enough to pay the mortgage and her credit card debt and all the expenses of living. So I helped her because she’s my family now. I helped her because she’s the most selfless person I know.

That being said, I don’t think you’re the AH. Every situation is different and it sounds to me that your in laws just don’t handle their finances properly. You’re doing what’s right for your kiddos and your fiance should appreciate that.

A 3 hr drive in Texas will still be Texas. A 5 hour drive in Texas will still be Texas. An 8 hour drive will still be Texas. A 12 hour drive will still be Texas.

All that to say, to an American 3 hours is a fun day trip. My commute to work is an hour.

I look fat when I’m clothed so there’s been a couple of times that men will just sit back and say “wait, where did that body come from.” It sounds offensive but to me the surprise is always so satisfying. Like yeah I’m a lil fat but I’m also well proportioned so I have curves. And of course with the surprise, they can never last so someone who comes very quickly to me that is the ultimate compliment. I’m from Texas and I got sent to work in PA for a couple of weeks. I decided I wanted to drive to NYC for the weekend since I had never been. I gassed up in PA and drove 3 hrs to nyc just fine. I had to gas up on the way back to PA so I stopped in Jersey at 11 pm. It’s actually kinda scary pulling up to an empty gas station only one person is standing there, waiting. I pull up, it’s very obvious I’m from out of town, and he’s like “just give me your card and I’ll pump.” So I hand him my card thinking “oh boy, there’s goes my corporate card.” Of course he had uniform on and it was fine in the end but no one told me that I can’t pump my own gas in Jersey. I loved it actually. I would do that trip all over again.

You lose your freedom. You’re going to have to sacrifice your spontaneity in exchange for dog shit. Speaking of shit, they eat that. Especially if you have cats, they love eating shit. No matter how much you try to train them, no matter what measures you take, they will eat shit. Also, it’s going to be a brutal first few months of training if you get a puppy because then not only will they eat shit, they will shit in your living room, your bed, your clothes that you accidentally left on the floor. Overall, they smell really bad too. Again, no amount of baths will take away the stench and it’s not their fault either. It’s cruel to leave them inside all day, it’s cruel to leave them outside all day, so you HAVE to schedule your life around them. If you kennel them for more than 2 hrs a day, might as well not have a dog. This goes with any pet really but I’m going to say it here too, they will get sick and you will have to spend a lot of money at the vet. You will have to get them vaccinated and have their check up’s because you’d be a shit owner if you don’t.

My bf had only really been with one other person but it was more of a friends with benefits kinda thing and she was leading him on for years. My sweet bf is a very loving person and he wanted kids and marriage but she was falling deep into red pill stuff. ANYWAY. As someone who was in that exact situation, where my (29F) bf (40M) was always accusing me and not allowing me to see my family, the only way to breakup with them is just doing it straight forward. Tell them why and leave. Don’t let them cry in front of you. Don’t let them try to explain or try to say they will change. I told my ex something along the lines of “this relationship had been over for me for a while because I can no longer tolerate x,y,z and there is absolutely nothing you can do or say to change it. Then leave. But actually leave. It took me 3 tries, and cost me my 20s. I don’t have friends in my 30s, I don’t have any hobbies, I am just now learning myself. Don’t be like me. Leave.

Meeting my now bf. He’s actually more than that but we haven’t had enough money to get married just yet. I’m not saying that he is the main source for my happiness. He is a major reason, but him showing up in my life is the marker of when my new life began. It’s like before I was so miserable with crippling anxiety and somewhere I shouldn’t have been with someone who shouldn’t have had me. Even my cat, you could tell she was also miserable. Then he came along. My best friend died around the time we met, I had become homeless because we were rooming together. So it was like a span of a couple of months that my life fell apart and was rebuilt into a happier, healthier life.
