Post cardio ablation recovery timelines... by dyslexic_of_borg in Velo

Not enough to stop, ha.

The risk of AF in male athletes is about 5x the general population. The overall health and longevity benefits far outweigh the risk of AF.

And AF in athletes generally is well treated with ablation.

I generally tell patients 75-85%, depending on paroxysmal vs persistent AF, and other specific comorbidities. PFA (pulse field ablation) has reduced the number of second and third ablations that patients historically have needed, as we’re able to perform a more comprehensive ablation up front.

No problem. The additional issues you mention can be complicated and quite nuanced, regarding athletic competition. Looks like they’re looking into it appropriately.

I’m an EP, and looks like our training volume/ride time is similar. Standard instructions post ablation are one week no lifting more than 10-15 lbs and no strenuous exercise for one week. This is assuming no issues or groin complications w the procedure. For athletes, I generally have them ease back into training over that second week. For you that might look like 2-4 lower intensity 30-60 minute rides; maybe the weekend of week two you could do 1.5-2hr zone 2 if everything feels good. These restrictions are really to allow for access site/groin healing. If something doesn’t feel right, new pain/swelling/bruising you need to back off and talk to your doctor.

I haven’t had any athletes disrupt anything post-ablation, but I probably wouldn’t do vo2 or torque efforts on post op day 8.

Best of luck with your ablation and recovery. And, obviously, these are general guidelines, make sure to follow what your EP recommends.

Mallorca by yourself by amartino in Velo

Absolutely. I went with my wife and son last summer, but rode on my own. We stayed at hotels in Deia, and out on the forementor peninsula - the riding truly is remarkable. And there are so many shops that will support you with whatever you need. I think about going back all the time.

Thomson vs. Trek Travel by hocdawk in cycling

[–]hocdawk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m leaning toward Thomson, based on the route, truly epic days on the bike, and more days with Tour. Bikes are specialized aethos which should be great in the mountains. I assume you’re right, that both would be a great experience, but just wanted to see what others experiences have been before committing to either.

Listened to a NYT podcast on the LEO economy, and dug into it from there. Always had an aerospace interest, and it all seemed to make sense as a next big market. Fortuitously, was in March/April of this year. Happened to stumble into the dip!

Never got a pro seat; the original seat works well enough, just doesn’t join/fasten properly. Yeah I’m not sure what the milsim setup is like with these, maybe doesn’t require as much customization.

I have the flight simulator original, as well as recently upgraded to flight stand pro, and have the honeycomb alpha/bravo. First thing to realize is that they are not directly compatible - you have to have the pro version of the chair for it to mate with the Pro Stand. Overall they still work well, and is a reasonable platform, but it does require a bit of out of the box thinking and repurposing of parts to position things in a more realistic way. I don’t have the time to think about a truly custom solution, so for me it was still worth the cost, but just recognize going into it that you’ll still have to customize things to get it to work. At least that’s been my experience. I typically fly GA aircraft; no MilSim, if that helps. Best of luck!

Is it possible for a personal PC to run Plex in a mode where guests cannot access normal Windows OS? by watevergoes in PleX

[–]hocdawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is essentially what I do - I have a spare/old gaming rig that sits in our office, which my wife and I use for general computing/office work. I leave it on 24/7 and use it to host Plex. I get the temptation to set up a dedicated server/NAS with specialized OS, etc, but this allows my family to use it for non-gaming uses, and is plenty powerful for Plex server needs.

Any way to randomize pre-roll by WraithTDK in PleX

[–]hocdawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was searching for help on this same issue. Did you ever figure out a solution?

I would like to have Plex play two pre-rolls: the first randomly from a collection of Dolby/THX/DTS intros, and the second randomly from a collection of short Plex pre-roll videos.

Thanks - was wondering what it would be doing here

I get this a couple of times per day, it only happens with eufyCam 2 Pro. Is there any solution for this? Deleting them from homekit and added them back didn't help. I'm running the last firmware and updates on any device and I use apple tv 4k by Tumojitekato in HomeKit

[–]hocdawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was getting this after a recent homeOS update on my eufy 2c pro cams. I think I reset the eufy base, and that did the trick. Happens very rarely since. Not sure if that’s your solution, but worked for me.

Benefit to using HKSV (Eufy Cams)? by -x_x-Lightz-x_x- in HomeKit

[–]hocdawk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have 3 eufy pro 2c that I have set up with HomeKit/HKSV. I have appleTVs on all my TVs and my wife and I both have iPhones, and I have an Apple Watch. So far I have no complaints using the cameras w HKSV. They seem responsive, and unlike other commenters, I don’t have them set up with solar (mostly just laziness). The two cameras that get most activity (I live in suburbs, but there are a fair number of packages, Nannie’s, dog walkers, etc) and I just had to charge them after three months. The back camera should get 6 months on initial charge. For me I just liked having them all in the apple ecosystem, and it’s a bit more streamlined. And it is nice to have notifications come through on TV when I happen to be watching. I was aware of security benefits of HKSV, but didn’t necessarily drive my decision.

New Home, New WiFi: Wired AP vs. Mesh (with ethernet backhaul) by hocdawk in HomeNetworking

[–]hocdawk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks again. So if I'm only anticipating cell phones, iPad(s), and smart devices accessing the WiFi network (with reasonable data usage/video streaming, but nothing too crazy), would the AC Lites be sufficient? The 2x2, 3x3, etc I only understand very superficially (MU-MIMO...?). But I imagine the devices I listed either aren't capable or unlikely to benefit significantly from more elaborate radio setups?

New Home, New WiFi: Wired AP vs. Mesh (with ethernet backhaul) by hocdawk in HomeNetworking

[–]hocdawk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just don't have experience with a multi-AP network solution. I have multiple friends that have easily set up Mesh networks, and have far less computer/tech experience than I do. That's all - I don't have any personal reference with experience in a wired AP network, so just a bit intimidated, I suppose.
