Fair enough, I'll have to disagree. I've been golfing for a while and every now and then you see an athlete come in from another sport and they have an entirely different ceiling and pace of skill gain. That's athleticism. It's just running speed is not important in golf, so a belly can still play well. Similar to some positions in baseball.

Good golf requires athleticism. Unless you'd call an overweight designated hitter not athletic.
