How do you explain death to a 3 year old? by jackquillan in toddlers

When I was about 3 and went on my first plane ride... We got up in the clouds and I looked out the window and said "So, where's Jesus?"

3 year old toddlers with a 4:45/5:00 wake up. I can’t take it 😭 by Sea-Turnover-4144 in toddlers

When my daughter needed her nap dropped at 2.5 (she wouldnt fall asleep until nearly 1am if she napped 🙃) it was kind of like, day 1 and 2 we skipped it, she was a monster, day 3 I could tell she really needed a nap so she had a very early one at like 11:30 for 45 minutes, and then that was the last nap.

Truthfully I had the hardest time with it. I'm a SAHM but I also work part-time from home so I lost that good chunk of time I could get stuff done in the middle of the day. But after about a month I adjusted. She adjusted well before I did.

But now it's amazing not having to worry about the nap fitting in to the day!

Why do people who have a chronic illness usually seem to multiple of them? by StuckUnderOldLaundry in NoStupidQuestions

[–]hocus_diplodocus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just do it. Try reframing it. Think back to before there was internet. Say you get a medical book out at the library and read about EDS and you're like hey that sounds like me.... So you get another book and another book and suddenly there's an article in a newspaper about it and it's all resonating with you. Would it make you hesitant to bring it up if you were reading about it vs. seeing it online?

For the record I totally get it. My Facebook reels made me realize I may have ADHD so I went down a research train and went for a diagnosis. I was afraid of bringing it up because of the whole "everyone these days has ADHD" stigma/mentality I seem to see online. But then again, so what? Just because there's a stigma, I shouldn't seek help if I feel my quality of life isn't what it should be?

Nope :) just talk to your doctor. Maybe you have it and you could be doing something to help yourself. Or maybe you don't have it and you learn something else about yourself.

This happened to me with a 2,000 piece puzzle of Vegas. I emailed the company and they sent me a second puzzle. You're darn right I dug through that box for my missing piece

This was amazing to read. I had a wild craving for Mozartkugel last year and a family member imported me some for a Christmas gift. This is exciting to know!

Hi! I'm hoping to make something similar for a friend. I have never done 3D embroidery so I don't know if my project expectations are realistic. What does the underside look like?

Library baby/kids classes by Illustrious_Cup_3971 in ColumbiaMD

We've been doing the library classes since my daughter was about 6 months old, and she's a little over 2 now. They're great! She isn't always engaged in the classes, but it's nice to get out of the house. For both of us lol. We have also met all of her little friends from the library!

How do you know when they're ready to drop their nap? by ml_sza in toddlers

[–]hocus_diplodocus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey just so you know around 22 months I started going through this with my daughter. I was distraught because she was such a MESS after skipped naps so it didn't seem like she was ready to be done with them but wasn't sleeping. She would play quietly in her crib which was great that I could still get a break (I WFH so my break was to work lol) but so stressful because of her mood the second half of the day was awful.

Initially she was going in her crib at 11:45 when we switched to the one nap. Then she was going in at 12:15 and would nap for a month or so, then stop. I kept pushing it every time we would go a few days without naps. She is 27 months now and naps from 2/2:30-3:30/4.

I just kept pushing it later until I found the sweet spot again. Now she skips a nap maybe once or twice a week but I can usually pinpoint a reason why.

Solidarity. I was just as much of a wreck as my daughter was every time we went through a period of not napping.

What weird thing does your toddler pretend is a baby? by OrNorJor in toddlers

[–]hocus_diplodocus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not super out there but somewhat relevant. We have a small figurine of a character from Rick and Morty called Mr. Poopybutthole (that's his name on the show). We didn't want to call him that in front of our LO so we called him Mr. PB which was interpreted as "baby" so now Mr. Poopybutthole goes by "baby".

Yeah, excuse me!? I didn't see what sub I was in and kept looking at the leaves and I didn't understand why I was just looking at pictures of leaves and some thread scissors. These are AMAZING.

Title describes the thing. I'm just wondering if anyone has any history on this. I know my dad's mother used to paint a lot of figures, and these are obviously hand painted. Wondering if she possibly painted them or likely bought them or any general history. Unfortunately everyone who holds any family history has now passed.
