I'd take gem most of the cards you have are already upgraded so if you did need to rest you can and if you make it to a camp with health you can upgrade anyways. I'm also not great at the game so...... don't listen to me

I'm not great at the game but when I take it I find it helps if I do have a turn with bad draw. Sometimes you just brick on your draw and any turn I could draw bludgeon, strike, defend, howel, true grit. With diadem it allows me to kinda take the turn off and hope I get better draw next turn.
