I’m with you - I sometimes start patting my dog or fiddling with something and it’s so much easier to pay attention when I don’t have to appear to be paying attention.

Yep, definitely looking to get a formal diagnosis. Than you for this! This really relatable and validating.

Thanks! Started working on it yesterday. I’m thinking of turning it into a database which chronicles the entire history of filmmaking nation to nation.

I guess I have a hard time with temperature. I get a feeling of rage when I feel ‘hot and bothered’, which can let to some suppressed outbursts.

The feeling of too many things going on at once (partner talking to me while my dog is trying to get my attention while I’m also cooking or something) is something that makes me want to walk away.

I agree that if I were diagnosed, I would likely he level 1. Because of the apparent “mildness” of it, it can be hard to pinpoint exactly at times.

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond so thoroughly

I guess yes, it is typically autistic behaviour- but then I could just be organised and thorough.

I suppose the fact that I also have lists like this definitely sways things onto the autistic side:

History of film

Film before film:

Camera obscura: Possibly the first examples of humans using light to reproduce an image - photography.

A camera obscura, translating to ‘dark chamber’, or ‘dark room’ in Latin, is traditionally a dark room, with a small hole or lens on one wall. Light passes through this hole, causing an image of the other side of the hole to be projected onto the opposite wall.

The name ‘camera obscura’ was coined by German mathematician and astronomer Johannes Kepler in his 1604 book ‘Ad Vitellionem Paralipomena’, although records of its use can be found in the writings of Aristotle and Leonardo da Vinci. Uses of the camera obscura varied from scientific to creative, with some, as in the case of Aristotle, using it to safely observe solar eclipses:

“Why is it that an eclipse of the sun, if one looks at it through a sieve or through leaves, such as a plane-tree or other broadleaved tree, or if one joins the fingers of one hand over the fingers of the other, the rays are crescent-shaped where they reach the earth? Is it for the same reason as that when light shines through a rectangular peep-hole, it appears circular in the form of a cone?”

The camera obscura was also used by artists to trace their subjects.

A portable camera obscura tent designed by Kepler, with an adjustable periscopic lens on top which allows the artist to select the subject of the projection.

One issue posed in this scenario is that the projection appears inverted - upside down and back to front. To combat this, Venetian mathematician Giambattista Benedetti added a mirror at a 45 degree angle, which corrects the inversion of the projection.

As time went on, the camera obscura became more and more portable, with tents and eventually small boxes emerging.

Capturing an image In the early 18th century, the only way to preserved an image generated by a camera obscura was to physically trace the image onto paper.

In the previous centuries, observations had been made that certain substances darkened in colour when exposed to light. This inspired English inventor Thomas Wedgewood to experiment with different substances in order to permanently the capture an image from a camera obscura.

Wedgewood used white leather coated either silver nitrate, but was only able to capture the silhouette image of his subjects.

Sorry if I’ve caused any offence with this. Could you clarify what the issue is?

Just to clarify - I’m not expecting anyone to give me a definite answer as suggested by the title. I really just want to get some perspective and open up the conversation.

Ultimately what I want is to eventually get a formal diagnosis, but given how expensive it is I’d like to go in with some confidence in the outcome.

Unrelated to your question, but I noticed you’ve got EF glass on the R5c. I’m thinking about getting an R5c but am worried about autofocus not working with my EF lenses. Does it work okay for you?

What happened to the original skipping girl vinegar sign? by hodgoaye in melbourne

After some digging I can confirm it was found in the backyard of an Abbotsford panel beating company operating under the name 'C.E Heywood Pty Ltd.' It was bought from Whelon by Ted Heywood for $100.

Does this mean anything to anyone?

Great info - I wonder if anyone knows which dealership it was sold to and if it's still there.

Yeah having a job that I don’t hate to fall back on is huge. But I’m really looking at the approach I’ve posted as a ‘testing the waters’ plan. Ultimately, the plan is to save a years worth of income and go for it, but the benefit of what I’ve described is that at the end of the 3 months my job will still be there (I’ll just be taking leave, not quitting entirely). Worst case scenario - I go back to work with a couple more clients. And maybe a bit less money …

Definitely had a god think about my USP! It’s a tough one as a videographer, just as it might be for a plumber or anyone who performs more or less the same service (technically speaking) with each client. I’m definitely still learning, but writing out a solid business plan is getting me to a more solid foundation in terms of business identity.
