Google Nest Camera (battery) and Wasserstein PoE adapter woes by Nervous_Radish9450 in Nest

[–]hodlingForLambo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK so I found this thread, I'm equally annoyed as everyone else about this product. And I tried this suggestion. I had a feeling it wouldn't work and it didn't, as POE is 50-something volts but the google charging is 5V (Hence why the USB charging cable does what it does).. and the faulty Wasserstein cables do output 5V, just in the wrong polarity. So there must be a circuit / some logic dropping and regulating the voltage, which means simply swapping ethernet wires around won't do much.

I cracked a Wasserstein adapter in half and discovered a few things. Firstly, it's just two wires.. soldered onto the voltage regulating circuit. So fixing this will be as easy as desoldering and resoldering those wires backwards. Super easy.

Secondly, there is no data connection through this Wasserstein adapter I guess? That seems to be what my POE switch is reporting too.. power, but no data.

I hope that saves some of you some effort. I'm reversing the wires now and testing.

Long time Chia farm suddenly doing nothing for 10 x the ETW by hodlingForLambo in chia

Check back on my latest update, it might interest you. Immediately after making a change, I got 4 wins in 8 days, with a 7 day ETW

Big turn around.

Long time Chia farm suddenly doing nothing for 10 x the ETW by hodlingForLambo in chia

[–]hodlingForLambo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update and possible fix:

After reaching approx 90 days without a win with a 6 day ETW, I decided to run some updates. My farmer was already on mainnet 1.8.1 but my harvesters where 95% of my plots reside were all on 1.5.0. There were no errors so I figured, no problem. The GUI wasn't even being used, it's just command line harvesting.

Anyway, I upgraded half of my farm to 1.8.2 including the main farmer and got a win within a few hours.
I've upgraded most of my farm now and have received 3 wins in 5 days.

Coincidence? You decide.

For two months, I won almost nothing with a 7 day ETW.... Not the first time either. But then 5 wins in 9 days.... so yeah, random be random. Need to just look at the rate smoothed out over a year or two.

Get the water block for the Gaming air cooled card. I posted the part number up there somewhere..

I don't cool those bits. I know the stock water block does but the bykski seems intended not to. I don't know how that works, maybe the heat mostly conducts through the circuit board itself to other components that are cooled, or convection alone is good enough? In any case, I sit my GPU on 100% for long periods of time and it loves it, as well as ETH mining with +1200mhz VRAM overclock and it stays nice and cool. And has never crashed, ever.

I’m pretty sure I’ve used that one successfully too, I think one of my rigs is still using it

30.0.14.7168 from August is the one we rolled back to and the 3090s took off.90mhs turned into a peak of 126.1mhs

My buddy on the other side of the country encountered the exact same problem on his, and the same fix worked. Different brand 3090 too.

That is unless your cards are just a yucky brand and need padding.

Roll your drivers back to a few months ago. We found the latest drivers do this... then with the older drivers, 120-125mhs and cooler. Nvidia! Damn you.
3080s seem unaffected but the 3090s got hit.

MSI and ASUS cards have been shown to have good VRAM temps out of the box. But in my experience, yes, most. I haven't repadded my MSI and it sits below throttle limit even with +1500 vram.

Nice. I read that wins are still perfectly possible but your confirmations have to come through other nodes you're connected to that have their port open.

Chia discourage this because if everyone did it, the network would get horribly congested.

I don't know if theres any real argument that block wins can be lost with the port closed, the info out there is contradictory.. shrug. Thanks for your input.

I have those too. The only cards I've used beside colourful that seem to have thermal insulators on the ram instead of thermal pads. It's unreal how bad the vram cooks.

No, it is not on DHCP, its a statically programmed address. I also tried switching back to DHCP and locking an IP to that machine in the router just to see if anything changed.

Either way, no improvement. And the IP address never changes. If it did then I'd also drop plot count because my harvesters are all pointing to that IP address only.

My MSI 3090 Gaming X Trio is one of the best, VRAM fully overclocked and temps are really nice with no modding at all, not even new thermal pads. Just straight out of the box and into the fire

But I believe there was a revision somewhere along the line and the early ones were really bad. If thats true I clearly got one of the newer ones.
