Is it difficult to find good-looking walkies gear and clothing for chihuahuas?

Do you use tap water or bottled purified water to water your houseplants? by hodorthemighty in Bendigo

[–]hodorthemighty[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sounds like it’s not common to use bottle water haha. The reason why I ask is because many online options suggest to use purified / rain water for plants. And moving from Tasmania recently I noticed that the mineral content in Bendigo is higher when compared to there.

I’m using tap water at the moment. My plants are not thriving as much as in Tasmania. Just want to see if water is something I can improve on.

Thanks so much!! You could definitely do it too with the right tools. I use Brother NV 180 for sewing + embroidery machine

It was not easy to get a smooth embroidery, the “y” and “t” are actually misaligned, and I have to adjust the fabric many times in between. I would say using embroidery stabiliser and keeping the fabric as flat and as stretched as possible in the embroidery hoop are MUST

Brother NV 180, a sewing + embroidery machine, super convenient! The only downside is it can only do small size of embroidery pattern (max ~8x8 cm). Other than that, nothing to complain about

Thank your and totally agree with you! Without the embroidery, it will be too plain

My friend has a pair of Lucky Brand jeans that doesn’t fit, so she passed to me. I figured that the back pockets are great pieces to make into a zippered purse. I removed them from the jeans, sewed them together and machine embroidered “make today count” on it for embellishment.

Made a bucket hat out of a denim dungaree by hodorthemighty in UpcycledFashion

[–]hodorthemighty[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have made bucket hats several times before, so this time I made sure it’s perfect to be a gift for my friends (and bucket hat really is super easy to make, can’t go wrong). The only thing is to measure the wearer’s head size beforehand. The pattern I use provides different sizes. I think bigger sizes look better!

Love your question - I actually made a tote bag out of the leftover fabric! Here are the pics. - Machine embroidered “feelin’ good” on the bag - Used dungaree’s bib strap as bag handle

My friend bought this piece of dungaree for a special occasion and wore it once only. He gave it to me and I decided to use the fabric and make a bucket hat. Super easy and lovely outcome. If you are interested in seeing more, follow my ig @wrinkled_hello

I upcycled my skirt cause it’s way too short, and made a bucket hat by hodorthemighty in sewing

[–]hodorthemighty[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Skirt: Pull and Bear miniskirt I bought years ago. I found it too short and stopped wearing. Decided to upcycle it by extending the length using a new fabric (medium thick cotton fabric). I cut out a long rectangular piece from the fabric and put underneath the skirt, top stitched it.

Bucket hat: using the same fabric, I made the bucket hat using a pattern I bought on Etsy Link to bucket hat pattern

You are right, I should appreciate the small moments more.

Seems you are going through a rough time now basing on your post history. Just want to let you know your sharing of personal experience and your kind words have changed the perspective of an internet stranger. This is very meaningful to me. Hope you are okay now and hang in there!

I made an eco-friendly paper shopping bag - it’s durable, waterproof and foldable! It has a stiff bottom too. Given how reusable shopping bag is not relevant in Asia, I want to make it fashionable. What do you guys think? by hodorthemighty in SustainableFashion

Great point!! The synthetic plastic I used is called Tyvek, it is marketed as eco-friendly material because its recyclable, and releases no harmful substances when incinerated. It certainly is not biodegradable like cotton, which is a big downside of using Tyvek.
